Opening Post.
Captain's Log Stardate I can't remember.
While patrolling the Klingon Neutral Zone, we came across a distress call from a ship called the Maru, answering her calll for aid, we came across her, drifting almost dead.
I found myself faced with a dilemma, drop my shields to transport the survivors and risk my ship to possible attack or do nothing. Scotty ensured me that it would take more than a sneak attack to bring down the Enterprise.
Bones argued that the people needed our help but Spock interceded that dropping shields so close to the Neutral Zone and in a sight of an obvious ambush was illogical.
I enquired about the chances of being able to use Shuttles to ferry the survivors across, Bones stated it would take too long and Spock agreed with the conclusion.
Upon hearing that I came across my decision I would risk the Enterprise, to save the survivors. As I ordered us to be brought within range of the Maru I suspected a Klingon ship to decloak and fire upon us, but nothing of the sort happened.
Scotty being the magician that he is was able to transport the ten survivors in one go, leaving our shields down for only ten seconds. It was that which saved us, just as our shields were raised a D7 cruiser decloaked and fired upon us. After trading a few salvos it was obvious to the Klingons that we were evenly matched. They cloaked again and let us leave the system.
Later that night a small explosion occured in the ship, leaving several crew members injured. Upon inspection we found the damage was caused by a bomb and that some of the survivors were missing. It is now clear that the Klingons have infiltrated the ship and will attempt to either damage or destroy the ship ability to fight.
Our mission is now clear in that we have to stop the Klingons.
End of Log
Rules of this game:
24 hours day, 12 hours night. As always if all Night actions are recieved night ends early.
CF will show faction. But not role.
The scum are obviously the Klingons.
Innos will cf as Enterprise crewmember.
Lynching as normal by majority vote.
No hinting or paraphrasing of Role pms, this will be enforced by modkill. But you are still allowed to claim yourself as Captain Kirk or anyone else that comes to mind.
I hate having to use modkill, so if you busy or there some problem do try to send a pm to Path-Shaper. There is no definite mod kill limit of so many hours but rather, if it is agreed by the mods that you're not playing the game, then we may take action. Please guys don't force us to take such action.
New mechanic in play called sabotage. This has been underlined so that hopefully some of you guys might notice I actually mention this. I think we all agree that spycraft first day was nearly a disaster where someone who read the OP fully was nearly lynched cause he can read.

Role Pm's
To be sent to bwgan:
You are Captain James T. Kirk of the USS Enterprise, your five year mission, to talk computer into blowing up, beating the crap out of the Klingons and any other race that stand in your way and every so often make out with orion slave girls. It appears that the Klingons have snuck aboard the ship, their mission is obvious, to sabotage the enterprise, but you and the crew are not going down with a fight. You recent encounters with the Klingons means you are an expert in how to fight them (You have a one shot vig). One of the new Yeoman has caught your eye and you want to show her how a true captain commands his crew (You can form one lover relationship with any member) And can communicate with them off thread. Don't be worried the spock caharacter knows who you are.
To be sent to Bubba:
You're Mr Spock, second in command of the Enterprise, you have adapted the ships sensors to try and locate the Klingons but it is slow business. (Each night you can use the ships sensors on a person to see if they are a member of the crew) You know Kirk ().
To be sent to M45:
You're Scotty, the Third in command of the Enterprise but are also her chief engineer, it is your duty to fix the systems that the Klingons sabotage. (Each Night you can repair a system) Some of the sabotaged systems will be obvious as they affect the whole ships while some only affect certain characters. You know Spock (grief). Many years of hurting yourself fixing the ship means that it takes a lot more to bring you down than one Klingon (1 BP). You have also equipped yourself with mag boots in case the gravity system fails.
Systems that can be sabotaged are:
1 Comms 2 scanners 3 showers 4 secruity console 5 phaser 6 gravity 7 replicators 8 sick bay power supply 9 lights To be sent to ST:
You're Dr Mc Coy, I think it is obvious what you're job is.
To be sent to Shinrei:
You're one of the security guards, every night you can lock the rooms of any person you regard as suspicious from your security console thus stopping them moving around the ship unsupervised.
To be sent to Tapper and PB:
You are a red shirt. Roleless Innocent with no actions except voting.
To be sent to Silencer and Stalker:
You are a blue shirt. Roleless Innocent with no actions except voting.
To be sent to Obdigore and Mentalist:
You are a gold shirt. Roleless Innocent with no actions except voting.
To be sent to Morgoth:
You're maglus godar, the best Klingon sabotuer there is, you started off as engineer but were so bad that you were sent to Imperial Intelligence where you now do your engineering work on the enemy installations. You have determined 9 sub systems that if neutralised will help your team take over the ship. Each night you can sabotage sub systems 1-9, you don't know what the results will be but you are sure that they will cause mayhem and also they aren't that well guarded, which makes you're job easier. You know the assisin vagh korm () You along with all members of your team are equipped with mag boots, in case the gravity on the enterprise fails.
To be sent to Vengeance:
You're vagh korm, the best assasin the Empire has trained in centuries. It is your duty to neutralise the command crew of the Enterprise, each night you can sneak into a crew members chambers and assasinate them. You Know the team leader margon kellein (), watch him as he may try to point out your targets.
You along with all members of your team are equipped with mag boots, in case the gravity on the enterprise fails.
To be sent to The Dude:
You're margon kellein, the team leader of the Klingon infiltration team, you're expertise is as a computer hacker, hacking into the system you can find the location of command crew and the shifts that they run, giving you the info needed by your assisin to complete his part of the mission. Unfortunately you can't break into the communication network to contact him cause it give you away, you will have to work out a way of signalling to him the targets. You Know maglus godar, the sabotuer ().

I think The Dude has the hardest role in the game, followed by M45,cause M45 can try and pre empt assualts on sub systems or he has to play catch up, so he has to read morning posts to get a clue if a general system was sabotaged or, if players are trying to drop a hint that their abilities have been knocked out and suggest what it is without giving away their role.
It's an evil game it is. But I hope the players find it fun.
Just the alts need to be sorted and game can start I possibly put a pole up asking if want to start as soon as or wait till monday.

Oops sabotage an explanation: THis was developed in a talk by me and goe on new mechanics to introduce into mafia games, some mechanics being for big and very themed games and other that with a bit of thought could be put in quite a few games.
Sabotage I hope could be one of these new mechanics. And with it brings two new roles to the game, the Saboteur and the engineer.
In this game abilities for the inno team is based on certain ship systems, like Spock using the ships scanners to detect the klingons thus making him a finder, if the scanner are sabotaged then he can't do finds until the scanners are fixed.
While other systems have other implications, especially the general systems can affect the crew at random. So the saboteur is a mixture of guard/killer as some systems will lead to the kills based on coin toss, yes guys I like to have coin toss and 50/50 situations occur based on night actions.
Of course the engineer has to fix the system. He can take a gamble and fix a system in the off chance that it will be sabotaged that night, if he right then the system is not sabotaged. If he wrong then he has a game of catch up to do. It up tothe other players to clue him up on what may be damaged but do it subtly that the other team don't pick it up.
The systems are and the effects they have are as follows:
System 1 Comms ( Kirk can't communicate with lover)
System 2 scanners (Spock can't find)
System 3 showers (if sabotaged name from the enterprise crew is picked out of the hat, based on a coin toss, if heads they are badly burned but end up in sick bay and is out of action for two days, if tails they die in the shower.)
System 4 security console (Can't guard)
System 5 phaser lockdown (Kirk Loses vig)
System 6 gravity (only people with mag boots can perform their night actions)
System 7 replicators (no food will start to leave the enterprise crew weak, each night a character from the crew is picked out of the hat, if a roled characters based on a coin toss if heads they are strong enough to continue their duties, if tails they can't use their night action)
System 8 sick bay power supply (McCoy can't heal)
System 9 lights (based on a coin toss people may have difficulty performing their duties (NA), on head they perform their duty, on tails they don't)
Scotty knows what systems can be sabotaged, while the sabotuer picks the number of the system he wants to sabotage during the night.

Hmm interesting setup there GK. I think Vengeance has the hardest job - he's a sole killer, if he goes down its almost game over for the Klingons, they can hope to get lucky with the Sabotage, but it'll be much much harder.
I like the look of the Sabotage stuff though, be interested to see how it plays out. The random factor could be a huge part of it.
A couple questions just to confirm for any Mod stuff:
If the Engineer picks a working system (Night 1 they will all be working obviously) and the Sabotour picks the same system I presume nothing happens?
Otherwise I presume it works like a Guard for Modding? So if he sabotages Phasers Night 1, Kirk is considered Guarded Night One for a Vig? So he doesn't get to Vig and gains the Vig back when its repaired.
And if he sabotages the Shower and they die, but someone has done a Heal on that person, they actually survive?
And finally what do you want to put in the CF?

I think it might be obvious to m45 to guard the gravity night one, and if the saboteur picks it that night. It won't be sabotaged.
If a system is sabotaged it stays sabotaged until it is repaired.
So if phaser is sabotaged night one, and it is repaired night 3, Kirk has lost vig for night 1,2 and 3. But he will be informed the morning of day 4 that it back and ready to use.
The showers if they stay sabotage then that effect is applied every night, that a nasty one. But if McCoy heals that person that night, and they were the unlucky one in the shower, then his heal works in effect, so the bad burned is healed and they can report to action the next morning. If it was going to be a deadly shower then they end up in sick bay instead.
I hope that clears up all the questions?

Thinking about it a little more the balance really is quite interesting with the Sabotaur in play, he's a real wildcard that can make or break it.
Every night there's a 8/9 chance that the innos will have something bad happen, either a potential kill, or someone loses an action from the Sabotaur.
I reckon the balance is pretty good actually as long as there's not an early lynch of kill of the Sabotaur or Engineer, then one side has a big advantage.
I presume Klingons aren't affected by any Sabotage? The Replicators etc? Oh and if they sabotage the showers, if they haven't been repaired, can they Sabotage them again or is it a one shot kill attempt till repair? As if the showers are Sabotaged its actually better for the Engineer to not fix them.
