Hey Malazites, just going through the process of reading through chapter summaries on the first 6 books before I start Reaper's Gale - there was so much information I felt like I would go crazy if I didn't go back to refresh myself on everything that had happened.

I have just joined this forum and hoping to find a few explanations for a few of the concepts that have always been slightly unclear, HI everyone

Hey everyone. Should have joined this forum years ago. Best book series I've ever read. Read all Malazan Book of the Fallen, Forge of Darkness and I'm currently up to Stoneweilder in I.C.E series. P.S just as good as SE in my opinion

Greetings. I'm elated to have found this forum, as there is SO much to discuss about these books, my favourite book series so far. Currently, I am reading Reaper's Gale, and at this rate, I'll probably devour one of these bad-boys every week (I have the rest of the main series stacked on my bedside table).

Hello all.So i wont be the first nor the last to say this was the absolutely best series I have ever written in my not short life. Aside from the obvious depth of the characters and storyline its just incredibly well written and ironically , given the volume of destruction, bloody funny. I havent had that 'cant put it down' syndrome in at least 30 years. Anyway onto the trilogy and ICE after that should keep me going for a few months.

Hello, all. Now in The Bonehunters.

I avoided looking up anything on the Malazan Book of Fallen in order to avoid spoilers, but the map thing has me irate enough to do a google search.

My thoughts on the series so far:

It's balanced right between the sheer cynical philosophy of Bakker's Prince of Nothing series and the harsh realism of Martin's Song of Ice & Fire series. Seems closer to Frank Herbert's masterpiece than the catchy, effortless style of Martin or the razor-sharp aphoristic writing of Bakker. And my favorite character so far is Anomander Rake. Of course.

For what it's worth, the plot advances much faster than in any other fantasy I've ever read. It's extremely compressed writing, and doubly rich due to the intricate universe of both metaphysical magic and high-level politics - all likely due to Erikson's background in archaeology and anthropology.

We are all merely puppets stuffed with red slop in order to reproduce histories and its deformities.

Having just finished Gardens of the Moon was a great time in life. I had to come looking for a website such as this as soon as I was done with the first book, also. There's just too much information for one person to keep track of as you go, and far too much awesome for one brain to contain without randomly telling others just how awesome the series is. I'm not taking anything away from the last part of the series, but the first 4 books of Malazan were the greatest thing in the world, at the time.

I came to find that reading this forum was almost as good as reading the series. Nothing better than coming here to each sub forum, after each books completion, just to discuss certain aspects, or ask questions on things I didn't understand.

So just wanted to stop in here and say hi and introduce myslef. Only found out about this place cause I was looking up things about Anomander one day and ran across his cage match thing over at suvudu. Wasted a few hours reading through that hellish thread. Kept seeing this place mentioned so I said why the hell not? So here I am and in true Imass style I want to spread misery to the tyrants hence my name.
