Hello everyone!

I'm John. I'm new. I live in America in a small town in the state of Georgia (which might explain some things). I got onto this website after Egwene found me on the Malazan Wiki. I've started entering chapter summaries for Memories of Ice over there, so check them out if you care to make an edit or two.

I've been into sci-fi and fantasy since 9th grade when I read the hobbit. My family took a cruise that summer to the Bahamas, and the most prominent memory I have of that was finishing "Return of the King" on the Lido deck. Since then I've scoured libraries, used bookstores, and now the library at Audible.com. My first exposure to the Malazan Book of the Fallen was the audiobook version of Gardens of the Moon. I'm in the process of re-listening to each of the audiobooks until The Crippled God is finished, so I'm trying real hard to avoid spoilers for the last book! @_@

Recently I've gotten into David Drake (the Lord of the Isles series), Brian Staveley, and Joe Abercrombie (whose First Law trilogy is an excellent series of audiobooks as well).

I'm also into drawing. I haven't done a lot of Malazan fanart, but who knows, maybe I'll get more into with a community. Can't wait to discuss further!

Ask away! (in the appropriate book forum, and make SURE to include exactly where you are so nobody spoils the book).
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Hi John,

good to see you found this place.

Hope we'll see some more of your artwork. Talking of which... I posted your Hedge image today as image of the week - that was before I saw you had posted here - it's a small world sometimes!

Have fun ;)

Thought about time i joined this forum,

So here i am.

Only one or two questions???? Not twenty or thirty??? Or two to three hundred???

Well, however many, you have come to the right place. Once you start reading some of the discussions here, you'll soon realise that the books are even more complicated then you thought they were, lol.

Hi everyone! Beaker One here. My sister and I (Beaker Two) are sharing this account. I introduced her to the Malazan series about a year ago, got her hooked, and we're both on our second read-through now. We've both been lurkers on this forum for quite some time, but Beaker Two wanted to create an account so she could see Drek's map. Posted Image

New to the forum, although not the book series. I have the habit of picking up the series once a year or when a new book comes out. I was looking to for a fan site or address to write the author when I stumbled upon this website and decided to meander around. Personally, as an avid reader, it doesn't get much better than these books for me.

Hi everyone, new to the forum, just completed MoI, and have just started HoC. I actually had a false start trying the series about a year ago, got halfway through MoI, then gave up in frustration. Started from the beginning again in March with GotM, and I'm glad I did, I'm understanding and enjoying so much more this time around, and I'm completely hooked. Looking forward to reading and participating!

I have another series of books where I had a similar experience. Glad you persevered!

I have read the entire series of this book, except Blood and bone, impressive. Insanely impresive. Its been a good month of reading but i dont regret it, maybe Toll the Hounds, with its slougish an fillerish caracter lacking dinamics that i have grown acustomed, kinda spoiled the whole expirience, but what the hell, i have read way too much to give up by that point, so i am finishing soon. It has been a good new year present for me. Now afther about 13 K of pages i resent reading so much that i fear of getin some kind of food poisoning because even readin expiery dates on food is a nuisance. And one more thing, i belive the autors have used ACID, and a lot of that, so will someone inform them them that you actualy do NOT eat that with a table spoon, as they have been doeing a loong time, and one more thing, i pitty their terapist, poor doctor must have been driven mad by this two raving madman. Lol

LOL - I am making a long distance virtual diagnosis of severe Malazan addiction. Only known help is to read the whole series again!

...and if you check out the Poll on the home page of the Wiki, you'll see that Toll the Hounds ranks pretty highly as a favourite. That's because lots of readers, who like you didn't like it that much, changed their minds when they re-read it!

Hiya to all the Malazans out there just finishing off Memories of Ice on kindle loving every page. Especially loving a multi book series completed by its original writer (Yeah looking at you Wheel of Time and theres good money on Song of Ice & Fire ending up the same way) Love LOTR, Warhammer and Michael Moorcock as well as Sci fi and Graphic novels, and im a huge metal head Maiden, Foo Fighters, Black Star Riders,AC/DC ETC and pleased to find this excellent site

Agree with your sentiment about one writer finishing a series, Shaman Bond - Sanderson did a great job but however good, it could never reach what we know RJ would have given us. At least an extra book for starters ;)

Hi! I'm new... In case you couldn't tell. I'm just getting back into the series. Read it up until toll the hounds and was waiting for the books to finish being published and I got ambushed by life on the way. I'm just now rereading everything and was looking for a proper read order.

Check out the spoiler free reading order thread

Hey everyone... Long-time book reader and forum reader finally getting around to making an account here. I'm reading through the series for the third time (In the middle of The Bonehunters now). The only other thing that needs to be said is: Best Series Ever.

Greetings, I am Excidius - or Matt - and I am currently finishing up Deadhouse Gates with Memories of Ice sitting with anticipation on a shelf.

I've been looking through the forums for a couple of months, seeing people's various favourite characters and having things explained. I am a stickler for outright knowledge so Erikson's tactic of 'read and find out' really challenges my patience, thus I admit to spoiling one or two things for myself, but I'm learning to wait for the revelations.

You'll likely see me posting from time to time, or who knows - maybe even more.

Thanks.

Well you are in the sweet spot for the series, between two of the most popular books (if you go by the wikia poll). Post away!

Hello. I finished the MBotF, reading Dust of Dreams and The Crippled God earlier this year, then picked up Cam´s stuff again with Orb Sceptre Throne and Blood and Bone. Over 300 pages into Assail as of the weekend and looking forward to seeing what happens. Erikson's writing has meant a huge amount to me over the years, favourite author of mine and I recommend him evangelically. Signed up so I can join in some of the enjoyable-looking discussions and speculation. Thanks for having me.

Welcome. There are a couple of rather juicy Assail threads I suspect you will find interesting.

Thanks - that's good to know. Rather than navigate the all-too-suggestive thread titles just yet I will wait until the last page is read and then crack open those Assail threads with gusto!
