Hi! I am nearing the end of my second read through of the entire series (including Esslemont's books), I felt the need to go back and read them all back to back to get a better picture of the overall story. I couldn't believe how much I'd forgotten of the earlier books and story lines by the time I reached the end. The second time through I enjoyed it far more and it made way more sense this time around since all threads were fresh in my memory and no months of waiting (and reading other books) in between. I am officially a convert!! I can't wait to continue reading future Malazan books and to trade ideas & opinions with other fans :wallbash:

Karsa's Dream, most of us feel that way. These books are great for rereads and as you can see endless discussion. Welcome!

Hello, all. I'm currently working my way through The Bonehunters on my first Malazan read-through.

Am I hooked? Let's just say that where Lord of the Rings used to be be my "reference point" for all things Fantasy, I now refer to the Malazan universe in general.

Favorite characters (in order of personal preference):
  • Toc the Younger
  • Tehol Beddict
  • Fiddler
  • Greyfrog
  • Karsa (Of course he was going to make the list. How could he not?)

Hi all! I have read GotM twice (it is too much for my brain at my first read), DG, MoI, and NoK once. Now I am reading RotCG. I still have so many to catch up in Malazan world.

Sorry if my English is not so good, it is not my first language.

That's kind of an odd read order, lol.

English seems fine. We have a lot of people here that have English as a second language so no worries man.

And some of us talk English as a first language, but still don't talk it too good anyways. Please, no judge me.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Yeah, usually to to something better, like Mafia, or even more Mafia, or just Mafia in general. Something like that.

Hm. Well, I've made a bunch of posts elsewhere on the site, but I suppose I'll introduce myself. You can call me Eltar, and I joined up rather recently. I've been aware of the site's existence for over a year now, but the 2012 Suvudu Cage matches pushed me over the edge to join up. So far I'm enjoying myself, as I haven't had a true fansite to call home since the dissolving of Wotmania several years ago. Here's hoping for a long and kinky beautiful time as an active member.

Welcome, Eltar.

I do hope you will be voting Rake in the match-up? Or rather, continuing to vote Rake in upcoming rounds should he advance.

But of course! I'll cheer Rake on until the cows come home. And if he doesn't win... then shenanigans. Lots and lots of shenanigans.

Hey anyone, everyone, the awesome Abyss (I should be so lucky). So I guiltily admit to never reading a Malazan book but Suvudu 2012 has convinced me, due mainly from the courteous and reasonable behaviour from the Rake fans I
might add (truly awesome the lot of ye B)) to add it to the top of my reading so I shall be buying them from work tommorrow and spend the rest of my weekend utterly immersed (hopefully ;D).
Umm.. God I'm awkward :p Rake for the win (yeah I got nothing)

Welcome to the Forums. Nice to have another Suvudu enthusiast on the boards.

You're plan to read tMBotF over the weekend is quite ambitious - you realise that there are ten books, right? :p First four are the best in my opinion so I suggest aiming for that - still ambitious though :p

Any questions just ask away and be careful looking at the book forums - you may come across spoilers.

Yes, be careful with the book forums.

All the subforums contain spoilers up to and and including the book they're devoted to. For example, the Memories of Ice subforum contains spoilers for all books in the series up to and INCLUDING Memories of Ice.

General Book Topics or whatever it's called contains spoilers for EVERYTHING. You have been warned. However, the discussion and information available is really great and was what really drew me to sign up on this forum. Welcome!

Also, chat is fun and you should totally go on it.

Welcome, flypanam! I'm sure you'll find that the forum is full of interesting info and interpretations of all things Malazan... and many things not.
