Funds are limited (waiting for DoD to be delivered via German Air drop *cough*)...

Hence, I must resort to my local Library for my Dresden fix.

Someone else has Grave Peril and Summer Knight checked out... and has for the last two weeks.

HOW THE HELL CAN IT TAKE TWO WEEKS TO READ THESE TWO NOVELS!?!

Seriously, I read quickly, but both my cats could read these two books in a weekend *smarter than average cats and fast pacing of Butcher's writing you know*...

I hate waiting.

I often borrow several books from the library, never reading them, extending the lease again and again, finally reaching the final date at which point I have to return them. Often I'll still wait a few weeks because I'm too lazy to go down there, it's only when it starts to get expensive not returning them that I get around to it.

So, yeah, enjoy your 2 month wait for Grave Peril :The Force:

Or, check out your local used book store and see if you can find cheap copies there.

So true... I read the first seven in that time. While doing uni assignments.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Hack the library system, find the books, show up at the current borrower's house and demand they return the books.
Or try ebay for cheap 2nd hand copies, because you want to own this series, really you do.

I caved in to my Dresden addiction and ordered the one book the local library didn't have. They have all the series except for Dead Beat, and i didn't want to just jump ahead and read the next few.
So less than a week after ordering it online from bookdepository.co.uk it arrived on my door. (all the way to the south island of New Zealand with NO SHIPPING FEE!). Can't use amazon cos of the shipping fees. ridiculous charges.

Now, unfortunately, I also ordered Dust of Dreams at the same time and it didn't arrive at the same time, so hopefully there will be an extra special delivery tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed.

But now i can go and get out the remaining Dresden Files from the library too. Yay, good reading for the next few weeks at least.

Finished DEAD BEAT in a matter of hours. Loved it, but still no sign of DoD yet :p Couple of hours 'til the post arrives today.

I have attempted to satiate my Dresden addiction though by putting a hold on the next 3 books from the library. Fingers crossed i can collect at least the next one today. Ooh, excitement.

... eBay is a good idea. Hadn't thought of that. Did finally choke up the cash for Grave Peril, and enjoyed it greatly. Intrigued by the Vampire Courts, but REALLY like Michael... the image of a great avenging Al Borland is fantastic. Wonder weather Harry will dirty up Michael, Michael will clean up Harry, or whether their rubbing off on each other will just continue to add depth in grey.

good times!

RAFO. Theirs is one of the most interesting interactions in the books. I've always thought Michael gets some of the best characterization of the Dresden supporting cast. Butcher does a very readable take on the concept of 'faith' and Michael tends to be the voice of a lot of this.

And also, since the opening of book three with (more or less)...

... i've been a massive fan of Michael and Harry's dialogue.

I agree. Given in the first two books every mention of religion was the standard anti-Christian fare common to fantasy, it was fascinating and heartening to see Butcher do something different. It's also one of the things that convinced me he was a cut above other authors, as I know he's personally into the esoteric realm, but he doesn't use the books to grind his axes. And Michael could easily be a cliche, but he's so cool, and the moments he's allowed to show his humor are great.
