Wondering if we'll here from Anomander Rake again after the events at the end of TTH.

Didnt he get sucked up into a big chaosey vortex? what if that somehow takes him back in time?
Have had a few time travels already so maybe this is possible - eg Krul, Kruppe, Pran Chloe, Mhybe & Tattersail in GoTM

That could make it possible for Rake & a whole bunch of chaos to get dragged back in time, merged and become the crippled rake.
Wonder if that could work? The CG does say somewhere he used to be a proud/just god before getting crippled. Does getting whacked in the mush by a big sword, chained to a wagon & sucked up in a vortex qualify as getting crippled? Might also explain the CG's fascination with chains.

The official word is Rake is out of the series and we will only see him again in the prequel trilogy. At the moment he's not technically dead - while he sacrificed himself to form create the new gate/anchor for Mother Dark, the ending of TTH suggested he he didnt die in the process but rather became part of Mother Dark/The gate.

Funny theory about Rake being the CG but it's a little far fetched and I doubt it. Plus I seem to remember him saying something about how his power used to be that of loving, or heart or something. Anyways I'll just stick to my theory of the CG formerly being the christian god.

As for Rake, I don't remember exactly what I read in TtH but I'm pretty sure I remember him being completely destroyed. As in even his soul has been decomposed so that there isn't even the semblance of any residue of his being. I think he's completely out of the picture, just as much as, say, Rhulad is.

He got deep into Mommy Dark.

We won't see him again.

Rake was build up greatly though the series and had a powerful ending. I doubt we will see him again in DoD and tCG.

However that doesn't discount either steve or Cam eventually bringing him back. After all he did take a gods eye into the vortex with him. If he can find the tear that is allowing Chaos to enter the universe then he might be able to use the eye to close it and then eventually come back.

-Cause we haven't seen that before have we...

Of course only the authers themselves know exactly which characters will survive but I sincerely doubt rake will make a return. Besides the triology dedicated to him obviously.

He's gone. As sure as you can be w/ SE, Rake did what he did to basically save the universe and thus we won't be seeing him anymore. No matter how many wish it, lol.

I'm interested to see Silchas Ruin's reaction, if any, to Rake's death/absorption with MD. I'm wondering if we'll see some of the characters around the world reacting to what Rake did at the end of TtH in DoD.....

he's dead.

if SE goes and pulls a Brys on him, it'll rob a lot of meaning from his death and it'll look stupid, imo

I hope we've seen the last of him. Don't get me wrong, he was an outstanding character and I loved reading about him, but he was a bit ...overpowering/hard/harsh/rock or whatever. I like to see the little guys doing well.

I'm with Hinter and Optimus. Rake's story is done, or at least it should be. Hopefully he isn't resurrected after getting that eye from Apsal'ara...

Didn't he say the same thing about WJ, once upon a time?

WJ came back as a soul in Hood's army which was not a rebirth and thus not a cause of SE going against what he said.
Rake's soul was destroyed/transformed in Dragnipur so he should not be coming back in any form.

That doesn't rule out flashbacks of course.

Definately looking foward to seeing that.

Most characters besides a select few will praise him i assume.

Even his enemies had respect for him and I would see them giving him his due respect in the aftermath of his death.

Im looking to see what Kallors reaction would be.

As for Rake coming back. I think he had the perfect end, it was too good and that is why i highly doubt we will see him again, it may tarnish his name if he comes back. But of course I would love to have Rake back for the end.

I remember Apsalar (the thief) gave him her dagger before he was absorbed into the gate, some in this forum (including myself) speculate that this was a way for Rake to keep something from WU maybe perhaps for him to use as a piece to come back, if that makes any sense.

Silchas Reaction is one I cant wait to read about, I wonder if he will go on a rampage and start killing for a little bit or will he be the usual Andi mono type. After all he is the last one left from the 3 brothers which means he has to represent, lets hope he doesnt dissapoint.

I think Silchas will meet a tragic end too, though he may take out a few people with him. The Andii brothers will all be dead by the end of the series, no doubt about it.

I can't see how what Rake did at the end of TtH won't be felt throughout the world, though. Had to turn many heads. Osserc's reaction would be interesting as well.

PRIME!!!!!!!!

Agreed, that MD's "First" children will all die, but her "re-emergence" at Black Coral might bode well for Silchas. Rake was ever the most important. I think Osserc is ICE territory, but I'm hoping I'm wrong.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
