Here is the drawing that Mr B - a very good friend of Dag's and a friend of ours since the bbq last year, sent to us as he couldn't come to the bbq this year - which is a shame as he is one cool dude.
It's awesome. I've always wanted an original piece of Malaz artwork and now we has one ;)

For me - this is just how I thought they would look - what do you think?

Nice

I think he should have big eyebrows and a more mean look, but other than that it's very much like I pictured them myself.
The leader, his audience still,
considered their scholarly will.
He lowered his head
and with anguish he said,
"But how will we teach them to kill?"

Dare I say, this looks like a better interpretation to me than Steve's old picture!!

I love it. I wish I was artistic/musical/technologically superior/able to come up with really good M.E. theories/mafia expert...never mind. The day will come when the whole future of ME and the forum will depend on my ability to answer a question on crochet and then you will all bow before me.

Seriously though, it's pretty much how I imagined them, and the whole effect is intriguing.
'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'

Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.

I think you've got to be fair to Steve; he's a great writer who has a bash a painting for fun.

I said it at the time, this is a great picture: Bauchelain is very close to my impression of him but KB is spot on.

I always forget which is which.
but background is spot on to what I imagined, front needs to look a bit meaner, but still is fantastic
(on another note, front as a pretty damn good shout for lord vetinary from discworld?)

Amazing! Very well executed.

For me, Bauchelain doesn't quite look sinister enough and Korbal's lips should be bigger (not sure which book it is in, but I'm sure there is a reference somewhere to them being large), but definitely one of the best interpretations I've seen.

Thanks for sharing!

So, in name of Mr. B who is an occasional lurker here but too shy to post - thank you all for wonderful comments and your precious feedback, he was grinning happily like a kid in a candy store when he saw this thread. :D I can only hope that now I may finally persuade him to post some more pics from his Malazan opus - I think his versions of Karsa and Redmask are waaaay too awesome to be kept in his drawer, away from the eyes of Malazan fans... :popo:

Calling Mr B: you must post - we love you already...you must be able to tell that...and we really want to see more stuff (well I do anyway)...and we won't eat you...we might nibble a little bit...but that's...you know...just us being friendly!

Please, please post Karsa... :D

Dag, I demand that you rifle his drawers and closets, sneak a scanner in with you and copy those pics to post here :popo:
Mr B if you are reading this thread, leave the house for a few hours ! :D
....er... did you move to Japan already? That might make things a bit tricky, but I'm sure Super-Dag is up to the challenge.

Mr. B's drawing is awesome, and deserving of a place in the Malazan Halls.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
