I don't know if this has been asked or answered before but does anybody have any idea how long the hardcover of the novel will be. Just curious.

Well, Pat's reviewer copy is 889 pages, so that should be the page count I think. Maybe a bit longer or shorter, I don't know.

Amazon UK lists the length as 509 pages for the hardcover. I'd imagine that equates to 800 or 900 in a paperback. Pat's version is on A4 so that might explain the difference - or maybe it is a mistake, I don't know how Amazon got it's figure.

Amazon pretty much makes numbers up.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Well according to the Amazon page it is the 287th best selling book at the moment. I find it hard to believe that there are that many people pre-ordering it.

Oh, I just meant that the page numbers are often completely wrong.

That preorder doesn't necessarily surprise me. How many people at this very board have a DoD preorder in at Amazon UK, I wonder?

Book Depository says 912 pages. I imagine that is probably the correct page count, as it's closer to what a MBotF book usually clocks in at.

509...I don't think so. :p

Same here. And that better mean Amazon send it early or there will be trouble! :p

Guys, the set of page proofs I have is in the format of the finished novel itself. So it's 889 pages of text. Add the maps and stuff, and you'll probably reach 900+ pages. . .

A 900+ harcover is fairly hefty. Especially if it is one of the tall hardcovers if that makes sense.

i follow you, the first rounds of publishing are usually tome-sized. hefty indeed, hefty enough to carry around in dark alleys at night i should think...

...only to quote passages to the stars of course :p
