Ok, Eloth`s behavior is just weird. First of all, he`s a dragon and thinks dragon sex is gross. That should tip you right off that the boy aint right.
Second, the "be careful noob because of the last game" = wat?
I smell half-baked deflection attempt off of a possible leader (HP)
Or, an "I need to find something on someone in order to" 1) create distancing or 2) signal to someone
I think distancing or signalling are more likely.

About the Spider faction: If you've read the first book, the Spider faction is by far the least important and less note-worthy faction. It would be harder to pull good named characters from her faction, as even the Don and his wife are getting played by Lamora until the Spider comes in. She represents "the government" so it'd be easiest to put random thug/spy there as a player. The other factions, however, are what the book is really about, especially, obviously, the GB who are the protagonists in the story. They have definitive roles within their factions as guards/combatants/kingpins.
On your note about lynching in merc... it is logical. But, I have plenty of time, til zero-hour. I like as much information as possible when I vote. I do, however, recognize the odds argument is correct.

Something just occured to me. This may be a dumb question, but I want to clear it in my mind.
PS, when the win conditions for a faction say "Kill so and so", does that mean if that person is lynched or killed by another faction, that team automatically cannot win?

Huh. My immediate reaction would be that it would make the game very chaotic... you never know who is going to kill who. I'd imagine that if said leader dies, then the other faction much just achieve majority.

winining condition means the given target character must be dead, AND the team must have majority.
since the player's role name is not revealed in the CF, you will not know for sure untill the mods announce a game over.
it does not matter which team actually kills the target characters--the character's death will still be counted as one of the 2 fulfilled victory conditions

Sure you agree tho, that if everyone waits until the end to vote, it results in more speed lynches and non-lynches.

Ok, I think this is signalling through smileys. You`ve got the smart bespectacled "leader" and the unknown faction member trying to get through the wall. Those smileys make no sense in reference to what Eloth is actually saying.
The ninja is irrelevant, but the coffee drinking smiley is. I went back and the only other player who has used the coffee drinking smiley was Liosan. Both Eloth and Lio used the "..." for a last sentence trail-off.
OR, if you take the words in front of each "..." you get - "I`m D`riss player hide game suspicious that". "game" would be gamelon possibly. Or he`s telling driss that he`s with him and avoiding suspectability.
There! My reasoning is flawless.
So, um...who do I vote in that case...

I'd certainly agree that that is a definite possibility. Day one is still probably a little bit different in merc, just like m & p. Odds are I'm not going to vote for my own faction. But, I still want to try to find all of my faction, and that takes a bit of time.
The more I see, the more I can link people to factions. HP is not my leader. I could vote him... I just like to take my time, and that is just my general playing habit. Eloth is strange as well and I could see myself voting him. Gamelon is either playing let's frame a player as faction leader or jumping at the bit to connect to you as faction leader, or he could just be crazy. D'riss posts were a bit strange, so I can kind of see Eloth's point... albeit it was strangely made.
I'm just reading what is out there. Delaying a vote can be bad and good, I think.
As: would be edited my ghetto screen just showed me a Mockra case against Liosan through Eloth... strangely put together though. I'll agree that post is a weird one definitely.

@ Mockra -- okay, you're bringing up a new case but why are you voting it when it clearly isn't going to net a lynch today? Stalling for HP? This is like the third person that seems to be stalling for him.
@ Meanas -- I could vote any of those people just as quickly as you could take your time to vote for them, so I understand why you'd play it out over time... but I'm really liking the waning hours stuff that's coming up here to solidify my vote.

Heh, HP isn't my leader but now it sounds like Meanas and Sil are suddenly pushing back against the idea of a vote for "other than" HP. Struck a nerve by voting Liosan perhaps?
New case, ok, I'll vote tomorrow. Time is short, and if I"m not mistaken this'll time out when a bunch of people are asleep so to help things along.

I'd agree that some of these posts are just out there. However, it's possible they could be covering for other people being voted on. Odds on that are unguessable, so I'll play Occam's Razor.
Don't know how much longer I'll make it friends. The booze is really kicking in. I'll try my mightiest though to stick as long as possible, without posting like Korlat's last. That kind of defeats the purpose (unless your purpose is: BOOOZE!!!! in which case I'm going to have to waffle).

Lol. Really? I just noted how circumspect some other cases were, therefore, implying the people posting them might have a reason to post a shoddy case. That doesn't mean I won't vote for them in a heart beat, I just find a trend in ridiculous cases after HP is the only person actually getting heat. There is a difference between the two.

Eloth's post is so bizarre it has to mean something. It could in fact be a deflection attempt from HP. Maybe someone smarter than me can add to, or better explain my own case
#296

@Meanas, Is the other possible deflection case the one by Karat on Eloth? If so, that just seems a reaction to Eloth being weird and doesn't seem like a bait and switch to me. I was basically reacting to Eloth's post too. So, if Eloth IS trying to deflect from HP, it wasn't a half-bad effort.

I can see all of the Liosan, D'riss, and Eloth cases as attempted diversions. Gamelon makes sense to me because he was just way too damned either sneaky/obvious/retarded. Eloth makes some sense because his posts are weird, and same thing as D'riss. However, the last two read extremely strangely. Your case againt Liosan seems like it actually should be agaisnt D'riss, to be honest, Mockra.
I looked through the players list. There are no first timers (99% sure). No one should be playing absolutely stupidly as an attended guise.
I won't use inebriation as an excuse, so that is what I have read and attemptedly discerned from the topic no matter what.
My vote is entirely based on reaction of other players, and not on what HP has said.

urm, sorry what? :Surprise: .. Anyways, I would've grouped you with hood's path, and I still will I think. You're vote got in late enough it can easily be an attempt at distancing.
When that's said, Hood's Path seems a viable lynch, which is all I need really.
