Follow this link to discover what showed up in my mailbox today!

The author warns readers that this is essentially the first part of a two-volume novel. Hence, we are told not to expect much in the way of resolution, as DoD doesn't follow the structural arc of a regular novel.

Page count is 889 pages, making this one about the size of TB. I wasn't sent a glossary, so I figure that there won't be one in DoD.

Gotta read my notes from RG and TtH before plunging into this one. . .

Will keep you posted!

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Spoiler

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Quick, who's got a really good imaging device program thingy? In the photo Pat's posted, you can see through, just about, to what is probably the first poem on the next page - someone use a magical resolution program type thing to find out what it says!

I was hoping for impressions, updated hourly. Or at least bi-hourly if that's too much.

@Khellendros: Heh, I think that's the Copyrights page or something, not the first poem

Do they bother with that in these drafts?

Probably? Don't ask me though, I was just guessing. The only one here who can answer it is probably Pat

The page proofs are exactly what you'll get in the finished copy. The only difference is that the pages containing the maps are empty with only the label "map."

Unfortunately for some of you, yes I do have a life, as well as two jobs. No, I don't have a girlfriend. Which can be a curse because my testicles force me to actively search for one, which is much more legwork than if you are in a relationship! :gaes-orfantal:

In addition, Carlos Ruiz Zafon's The Angel's Game is impossible to put down where I'm at, so I'll have to divide my time between that book and DoD. But fear not, fellow Malazan aficionados, there shall be updates. . .
