Everyone's gay hurray!

But really, I find that sometimes historians seem to be trying just a little too hard to make historical figures gay, when really there just ain't enough info to say either way.

(no more rhyming)

The thing is, you've got a great composer from any of the pre-modern eras. Ignoring Hildegard, this composer is almost certainly a man. Like many composers, he is very dedicated to his work and is therefore rather reclusive. He spends all his time on his work, music being his only love, and therefore never gets out and gets married or have kids. All his greatest friends are other composers and artistic visionaries, also men, and maybe sometimes he stays up late debating whether those "power chords" that will be invented centuries later by electric guitarists are really chords at all or just dyads.

I think sometimes historians pounce on all that a bit too eagerly and declare him gay. I'm not saying that he isn't, necessarily, but I wouldn't be surprised if those other composers really are just friends and so-and-so really is just too musically dedicated or polyamorous to sprout some children to prove his heterosexuality. After all, whining kids are quite a disruption when you're trying to write music. I figure historians should do a better job of saying "we don't know" until they have better evidence.

Then again they did all die from syphilis...

I've just finished my latest aria, it's going to be called:

"Why I want to hunt down and sodomise Obidgore"

How do you think history will view me.

the second movement is called:

"I Like to Do it with Girls".

I did a paper on the erotic and homoerotic elements in Hildegard's Ordo Virtutum. It was fun...I compared it to Song of Solomon. :)

I don't know much about the reasoning behind the claim that Handel was gay, but I know a bit about the reasoning on Schubert, and it's pretty sound. Also, his portrait makes my gaydar blip furiously.

Arias don't have movements. This could be two different arias in an opera, or an oratorio, but having the same character would no doubt be confusing.

Ironically, I have similar fantasies about Obdi.

Lol, all the girls in my high school music class way back in the day had crushes on Schubert once they found a picture of him at like 18 years old. I'm sure he really was gay, but there's actually good evidence in his case, whereas in some others there really isn't.

And how come there aren't any famous lesbian composers?!

Actually quite few songs that I wrote and recorded with my band are out there knocking around (itunes recognises them). So you're actually pretty close. Although, "shit song writer" might be closer to the mark.

Your going to love my new waltz: "I'm going to skin Toby alive and wear his face as a mask"

I just looked up a picture of Schubert and my gaydar blew a circuit.

Might as well ask why there aren't any famous female composers, you know. But try Libby Larsen (the article mentioned her).

Stonewall revisited?

http://rawstory.com/08/news/2009/06/29/tex...-gay-community/

Texas gay community outraged at nightclub raid

By David Edwards and Daniel Tencer

Published: June 29, 2009

Forty years to the day after Stonewall — when a police raid of a New York gay club led to riots and launched the modern gay-rights movement — police in Fort Worth, TX, are being accused of repeating the incident.

Early Sunday morning, Fort Worth police, accompanied by agents of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, raided the Rainbow Lounge, a newly-opened gay club in Fort Worth.

According to CBS 11 News, “seven people were arrested for public intoxication and at least a dozen more were restrained. The incident was captured on camera and posted on local blogs. The scene was the topic of conversation at Sunday’s Million Gay March in Dallas.”

Police say they were investigating allegations that the club was over-serving its customers. They also allege one of the officers was “groped” during the raid, an allegation that witnesses dispute.

The Dallas Voice blog quotes an eyewitness identified only as Alison, who says the police “only arrested men and seemed to be targeting effeminate men.”

CBS 11 News quoted a witness, Raymond Gill, who said he was pulled aside by officers “because of the way I was walking. He said I looked like I was drunk. But … I got to the bar 30 minutes before they got there. I sat down had not got up before police got there. No one saw me walk.”

According to the Dallas Voice, one man has been hospitalized with a brain hemorrhage after being thrown to the ground by police officers. Pictures of the incident have made their way to the Internet, sparking further anger among the gay community.

“Rest assured that neither the people of Fort Worth nor the government of the city of Fort Worth will tolerate discrimination against any of its citizens,” said Joel Burns, a Fort Worth city councilman and Tarrant County’s first openly gay elected official, at a protest against the raid Sunday.

On Sunday, the Cathedral of Hope in Dallas, which bills itself as “the world’s largest lesbian and gay church,” released a statement on the raids:

“After more than a generation of progress, this action shows that there is still much work to be done to ensure that all Americans enjoy ‘equal protection under the law.’ It is tragic that lesbian and gay taxpayers are still abused by the very people who are paid by our taxes,” the statement reads in part.

According to a poll commissioned by the Texas Lyceum Association, 57 percent of Texans support the recognition of civil unions or gay marriages.

does that aria have a key change to go much higher when you find me?

I would make a joke about your muzak being equivelent to my bowel movement, but its so EASY.

Also - the fact that Terez wants to hunt me down and sodomize me makes me more worried than that Cougar does.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
