It's 25 years old and one of the best SF books I have read.

I was wondering about the title.

I thought it was either a weird new age title about some fairies or something or that you forgot to use Caps for New York or something :killingme:

Title corrected.

I have great historic love for this book, tempered by the sad fact that Steakley never again wrote anything nearly as impressive. I think it may have been one of the first sf books i ever read.

The double narrative of Felix and Jack Crow is totally enjoyable and the action scenes are SO well done. It's like STARSHIP TROOPERS except with a better story. And the armour is awesome and awesomely detailed.

Great book, fully worth the read.

- Abyss, ...wanted to be Jack Crow for the longest time...

Was this the one with Fenix and the mech suits and how the guy survives more missions than anyone else, ever?
Monster Hunter World Iceborne: It's like hunting monsters, but on crack, but the monsters are also on crack.

I read the book after Starship Troopers came out, seeing the movie first really helped with the visualization of the combat.

In contrast i read both long before the ST movie and i found the descriptions in ARMOR were better.

Heinlein, of course is way higher profile and has a bigger set of work, but ST, while iconic, isn't his best work imnsho.

On the other hand, ARMOR was Steakley's best work and his only one of any note. Bummer for him, but there it is.

I especially like when Felix gets his scout suit and basically decides he's as good as dead, then proceeds to live thru mission after mission, and the ultimate revelation of why he's so good.

- Abyss, wanted one of those suits SO bad...

I'm a big fan, this along with the Ender novels (Orson scott card) and the Deathworld Trilogy got me into sci-fi.

Basically who isn't a fan of power armor? Exactly. I enjoyed it, The story was good and involved a lot of Felix destroying aliens while Jack Crow learns about his past.
