I quite like tofu but only when it is cooked in Chinese food in recipes that it is actually used for in China. Otherwise, it is completely pointless.

vegetarians are ok as far as I'm concerned.

vegans are just annoying.

I have only 1 totally "eats nothing that casts a shadow" level vegan friend and she is the most annoying person to travel with ever. Its a bitchfest about being hungry and there being "no food for vegans" the second the car engine starts and it doesn't end until we return....because for some reason the grocery stores at home have completely different stuff than the grocery stores 2 hours away in another province.

I had to face the awkward situation while travelling, of 3 vegetarians trying to explain to the family of Guatamalans who had put them up for the night, and killed one of their chickens to feed them, why they wouldn't eat any of it. When it really was all they had.

I was veggy for a several years a while back, but in that situation I still would have eaten the damn chicken.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Yup, lots of pastas you make if you add meat you do it at the end, before you throw the meat in with the sauce, take half the sauce out and set it aside.

Easy.

Vegetable Lasagna (white sauce, spinach) is actually really really good and generally has no meat at all!

Edit - How Vegetarian is he? There are some who do it because they don't like eating animals. Some that do it because they think its healthy will eat fish or/and eggs. Some really crazy ones won't eat dairy products like cheese or milk. I would suggest you find out. (Of course there are the psycho's that won't eat anything that ever cast a shadow, but I hope he isn't that far gone!)

he is one of the real crazies thAT WONT EAT DAIRY ETC..............scuse nearly lost it

Hahahah.

Tell him its cheese from breast milk.

Seriously, your fucked. Take him to the store, look up lolvegan recipies. Buy lots of nuts and crap. Cook everything in meat grease.

Spicy stir fry is your only bet really, since he won't eat cheese or butter or anything. Cook him spam, i'm pretty sure there is no meat in that!

You know, the only restaurant in which I have never been able to eat anything on the menu was some weird octogonal wooden vegetarian place in either N.B. or P.E.I.
I just drank six glasses of lemonade.
So maybe she's right, the other provinces aren't politicaly correct enough for her.

Sheesh! I was a veggie from the ages of 12 to 27 ... I think. I can't remember when I re-started eating meat, it has been one hazy binge ever since. Like the Porkscapade that I told everyone about here. The worst thing was definitely travelling, it did make for some miserable meals on my part, but it was my own choice.

I still eat quite a lot of veggie food, mainly because I hate eating poultry but I worked up some good recipes during the veg years. I tried eating red meat every day, it make your insides all wrong, horribly wrong :D

I'm sure that your resolve was cracked by some chops in a curry house in Rusholme or some other typically hilarious Mezla anecdote

Yes, the chops, the beautiful chops. I remember the moment (people averted their eyes in case they startled me out of it) but I can't remember how many years have passed since. Definitely less than 3....I think. I have a terrible memory.
