When would this be starting? I'm available to play June and July (as the curse of uni work will be OVER.), but probably not for most of august.

Judging from past form any game taking place over summer is going to be severaly curtailed by peoples travel plans, and it's always difficult to get the game started back up again after huge breaks, so I'd recommend you start in september time.

Anyway up to whoever decides to mod in the end, but put my down to play with the knowledge of those time restrictions.

Any primers available on how this is played? I'm a complete noob but it does sound interesting. Should be available to play for most of June/ July... if it goes on for months, I'm assuming it isn't as fast paced as Mafia?

@ih - we could set it up to have backups or maybe have people paired. hopefully get it up and running sooner rather than later.

@skywalker - just jump in at the deep end or read some of the existing or previous diplomacy games for tips. you download realpolotik and just mess around.

While we're on the subject of variants, for the next one after this we should do AncientMed. I forget whether it was 8 or 9 (I'll have to look it up and edit this post later), but I played a game and it worked out quite well. Another one that leads to faction/alliances from the off though.

Ok count me in...

I'll download realpolitik (from sourceforge I presume) tonight to check it out.

Me too. :p

What is this Diplomacy you speak of? I'm in - looks like fun, even though I've never played.

Oh, really? Awesome! I'm happy to team up with someone, maybe Skywalker as Team n00b :p if it comes down to that.

Is that 9 signups? 10 with dibs.

Caladan and Macros could partner with Mappo and Skywalker, perhaps? Or maybe we could start two games. :(

Otherwise, teams of 2 if we get 14 signups.

If we got that many signups couldn't we just have 2 games?

I take it we're playing the realpolitik version, without the trans-siberian railroad that is apparently in the board game verison (yes, i've been reading up on it :( It sounds like the realpolitik version is better)?
