Hi All,
my first post here and I hope it will not be too stupid. I am currently reading deadhouse gates, and I keep being bothered during my reading by fiddler Gral horse.
Is it a male horse or a female horse ?
In several pages of the book it is referred as a gelding (so male (almost male in fact :)) or mare (so female)...
English is not my mother tong, but though looking at various dictionaries, I cannot come out with an explanation.
I know this maybe a pointless question but as soon as I read mare or gelding, my hackles raise. By Fener's hooves please show me the light

Bye and thanks

Not quite sure what the question is. If we're told the horse is a gelding then it's a male horse. SE is contradicting himself if its is names as both.
I want to die the way my dad died, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

Okay not sure I understand this latter question about orfantal, except there is something I look forward to discover in the next pages of the book.
Erikson is too much mixing both terms along the first part of the book to be contradicting himself.

Thanks for your answers

I thought Fiddler had a gelding, and Duiker had a mare.

Orfantal is probably still a girl... with gender issues. Or Korlat was just very confused.

Pre-op soultaken on hormones...

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Well a gelding is a castrated male horse, so maybe Fiddler just gets confused a bit sometimes, hehe

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.
