Jussi spotted it on Westros, fair play to him.
Tsk tsk, lads, 4 hours ago on another message board, I thought we were the malazan kings and queens!
Product Description
On the Letherii continent the exiled Malazan army commanded by Adjunct Tavore begins its march into the eastern Wastelands, to fight for an unknown cause against an enemy it has never seen. The fate awaiting the Bonehunters is one no soldier can prepare for, and one no mortal soul can withstand - the foe is uncertainty and the only weapon worth wielding is stubborn courage. In war everyone loses, and this brutal truth can be found in the eyes of every soldier in every world. Destinies are never simple. Truths are neither clear nor sharp. "The Tales of the Malazan Book of the Fallen" are drawing to a close in a distant place, beneath indifferent skies, as the last great army of the Malazan Empire seeks a final battle in the name of redemption. Final questions remain to be answered: can one's deeds be heroic when no one is there to see it? Can that which is unwitnessed forever change the world? The answers await the Bonehunters, beyond the Wastelands.

Can't wait for this to come out in the UK so I can just have it shipped to me here in the States.
Kind of sent chills down my spine, though.

I guess it doesn't really add anything else to what we already know.
Puts you in the mood though.

I like the line about the Bonehunters being "the last great army of the Malazan Empire".
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Its not really hard for them to be. And it also says that Adjunct Tavore is exiled so technically there not part of it anymore. I know they represent it but still.
Im completely underwhelmed im not sure why. Also what book should be read before this. Is everyone doin a reread of RG first?

Hey, there's one army out there which is 'great'!
That would be Onearm's host on Sevencities which is currently commanded by Ganoes.
Although Poliel thinned em' some Mathok added a nice cavalry regiment.

Yeah but "the second to last great army of the malazan empire, which isnt techinically in the empire but likes to think of itself as part of it anyway" doesnt really have the same ring to it

The leader, his audience still,
considered their scholarly will.
He lowered his head
and with anguish he said,
"But how will we teach them to kill?"

Ho ho ho, I likes this! Strange that it was all about the 14th, though. Nothing else.
Suck it Errant!

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Sounds.... eerie

And the scars bourne by us both,
are easily missed,

Well... from the prologue I'm hoping that it's a hell of a lot better than the "Plot Synopsis." In fact, it nearly has to be. Of course we will have more than one viewpoint on the entire thing, even considering "factions".
I have a feeling this synopsis is going to be worth crap as compared to the actual content of the book.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Hehe... very underwhelming plot synopsis I must say.
Although, on second thought, what else could it have been? Since no one knows what awaits the BH in the Waste Lands, any descriptive summary would just lead to eye bleeding spoilers. Also, the prologue notwithstanding, I suspect SE wants the majority of readers to get really excited when they realize the KCCM and Icarium and the BH and possibly Heboric are all around and about to converge.

The 14th really is the last great army when you think abot it. I mean, Ganoes' Host is great but a bit thin on mages. True- they have the Master of the Deck but I think that's mighty risky. Who knows how Ganoes may be manipulated? He's answerable to a whole lot more than just an army now. Tavore's got Quick, Hetan's lot, Sinn, a bunch of other mages.....isn't Grub with her too?
Anyway, so what's this 'wrong' that the 14th is so anonymously going to 'right'? The K'Chain Che Malle?
I wonder what will become of Silchas and what Mael's going to get up to? Silchas certainly never liked the lizards....but now he doesn't like Quick.

And Tavore needs to keep that army alive... for when she goes back to be crowned Empress.

She would have no support. Tavore trying to take the throne would be no less succesfull than the Crimson Guards attempt.
Remember, the 14th are on a mission nobody will ever know off. For all intents and purposes the 14th no longer exists.
