kruppe is by far my favorite character in the series. however, i just picked up a novel by glen cook titled "a shadow of all night falling" and while i am only a few pages into it, i am seeing an immense amount of similarities between an character named "mocker" and beloved kruppe. they both refer to themselves in a third person narrative, both have some sort of 'magical' skills, both are....hefty lads, and both have a perpensity to use overly grand language. was wondering if it is just me, or if there is some real influence. i did notice that in the
introduction to the book, erickson was referred to, but i dont know if i am making to much out of this. this is my first post, so please be gentle if i am missing something! cheers, and lets hope arsenal has a better year next year

I'll just throw this out there... SE dedicates Book Seven of the Malazan Book of the Fallen to Glen Cook. I haven't read that book you are referring to, however.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
