Hello all,

Since 3.0 is as good as finished with just waiting for Mac to lie down and admit defeat, I thought it would be a plan to start up 5.0. - we have the Arbitrator alt open to judge, and I'm volunteering to steer it (if just because people might forget I'm a backstabbing bastard) - that will open up a spot for a new player or for Imperial Historian if he wants to play.

I'd also suggest that 3.0 players who aren't in 4.0 get a chance to sign up first, it would be a pity of they had to sit out another game that could last multiple months.

So, 7 players to sign up, let's be fast about it, people!

Also, HoosierDaddy, you've been reading 3.0 for the past few weeks, now sign up and play!

1st row spots, still need confirming:
Macros (confirmed)
Tira (confirmed, if the standard variation)
Dkt
Mentalist

- Osric seems to have disappeared from the forums,
- Grief is in 4.0,
- Tapper is adjudicating

Signed up:
TT
Tira (under condition)
Macros
HoosierDaddy (cause he wil and shalll understand - can also assign a mentor?)
Grief
Dibs
Morgoth

Im still in 4.0, but unlikely to last more than 2 more years, so if you're in need of someone to make up the numbers outside the 4.0 game, Im more than happy to take part, and hopefully last more than 8 turns this time. :D :D

I don't really understand the rules. Although, I think I'm getting there.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

There are several links to the official rulebooks, but basically it's all about backroom diplomacy.... and betrayal :D.

http://www.diplom.org
is the single greatest source ever.
The opening I used in 3.0 and its uses is listed there, as well as prudent guidelines for every nations. As a lawyer, you'll have a field day picking out the technicalities and loopholes of agreements.

As for variants: I'm cool with a variant that allows more players - if we get more than 7, it's good exploring it, although you too must admit that 2.0 was a bit of a fiasco due to the abundance of centres.

I'll read that and if it hits home, I'll sign up.

that's enough for me :D
Just know that you sign up for a commitment that may last months and will destroy every single favourable opinion you have of your fellow players. :D

I'm in if it's a standard game. I can't really make friends with variations.
Otherwise I don't have a problem with sitting this one out. More time for school won't be bad.

I'll give it a go. I have the software from realpolitik (I think) and will have to read up on strategies...

I'm out I'm afraid, I've been struggling to find the time to even adjudicate, playing I can't manage.

If you need someone to step in for a few turns whilst someone is on holiday, or act as an advice giver I can probably manage that.
