For the sake of consistency, consider the active players in Memories of Ice. Then take into account that Elder Gods call each other brother and sister. Envy strictly speaking has not been counted among the old pantheon but the connection is there.

She's talking about K'rul. K'rul was everywhere in that book.

I just reread MoI.

My impression was that she meant 'sibling' as in another Elder god/ascendant of her generation, and she was referring to K'rull, who is behind the majority of the plans and shaping throughout.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Not having changed your mind in six years, Apt, you can definitely put 'consistent' in you character assessment :p

I do seem to remember at the time of first reading that passage, I too, thought it was K'rul, although for no specific reason. But...

I honestly don't think that story or most of the elements in it existed before later on in the series.

As in, maybe the outlines were made some time between TTH and the Crippled God.

The general timeline was fully planned out by SE and ICE long before either was published. While some story elements may have changed to make for better reading or from them changing things slightly, the relationships of the Elder Gods and the like would probably be fairly set in stone I'd think.

Good chance it's a typo, was meant to be a she and is Spite. Someone needs to find the bit of Baaljagg's memory where she meets the bandaged-handed entity who does the god-installing and see if there's any more gender identification there.

Here's the passage you were looking for (yah I know, nercroing a little)

"Then, standing before her, a figure. Cowled, swathed in roughly woven black wool, a

hand—wrapped in leather straps, down to the very fingers—reaching out. Warmth.

Welcome. A palpable compassion, a single touch to the creature's lowered forehead.

The touch, Toc realized, of an Elder God. And a voice: You are the last, now. The very

last, and there will be need for you. In time…

Thus, I promise that I shall bring to you… a lost spirit. Torn from its flesh. A suitable

one, of course. For that reason, my search may be a long one. Patience, little one…

and in the meantime, this gift…

The pup closed her eyes, sank into instant sleep—and found herself no longer alone.

Loping across vast tundras, in the company of her own kind. An eternity of loving

dreams, secured with joy, a gift made bitter only by waking hours, waking years,

centuries, millennia spent… alone."

I'm thinking it's K'rul considering the familiarity with which he and Envy talk to each other, and the way he speaks to and directs Toc.

:D also K'rul is involved in all things dream-related in MoI (Kruppe's sleeping mule, Keruli making Gruntle and Co sleep so that KCCm thought them dead, mhybe's whole thing, Ganath sleeping to allow K'rul to manifest in Callows, et)

That was suggested a few posts (and years) back as well. Still, K'rul seems to fit better with the story.
She went and she left me like litter. She took all future summers with her. I lost all my money cuz I tried to bribe her. Now I can only afford an amateur sniper.

The hands wrapped tho.....

And the word sibling would suggest, at least to me, actual family brothers and sisters.

Whereas 'brother' could be taken more figuratively, like exreeme closeness, friendship or comradeship.

In my opinion. Maybe.
