"Thinking" and "Sheep" don't really relate to one another, Baudin.

According to Sir Thursday, I'm the 3rd best player (how that can possibly be correct is not the point of discussion), so I obviously have some skills.

Wat? There must be something wrong with those stats! How can I be that far down the list when I've won two games and finished in second or third place on at least two occasions? :) Is this some kind of conspiracy or something? Sheep Empress is not impressed! I guess I'm going to have to work my way back to the top then! Get those topics Baudin NOW! Sheep Empress has spoken and still reigns Supreme!

It's because you've performed above average in both of the two previous games - plus Sheep 9 is weighted more than Sheep 8 because there were more people playing, so your 3rd place in that one really helps. Although now that I think about it, I'm not sure doing it that way is the best way forward. I'll do a little recalculation with different weightings and see if that makes any difference.

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

It's because those stats are only based on the last two games - I don't have the data from previous ones. Otherwise I'm sure you'd be higher :).

So, a question for you guys: I am currently weighting the games based on (number of players - 1)*(number of rounds), but it occured to me that perhaps it wasn't necessarily true that a game with more players would be more important than a game with fewer players. What do you think? I could weight them based on just the number of rounds if you like. (Note: it would change the order of the rankings I put out before, but once I've made a decision I'll stick to it for all future games).

i'd think the games with less players should be weighed more, since statistically, the greater the number of players, the greater are the chances of them randomly selecting same words
same can be said for the number of categories, which is why i think it should be fixed.

just my opinion.

On a purely statistical basis, a game with more players is technically both harder to match overall, but easier to find some matches. The fewer players there are, if two people are substantially similar they will dominate the game opposed to a higher-player game.

So, I like weighted games.

Edit: Me and Ment just took polar opposite approaches with the same information. We will not match well in future Sheep! :)

I'm basing my system on deviation from the mean score of the round, so that doesn't really come into play. So to clarify, what I'm asking is not whether there should be adjustments made for games with fewer players, but rather whether you consider a game with lots of players to be more important than one with few.

Ok, I can accept the current standings then, as my results in the last two games have cetainly been les than stellar. It's too bad we didn't start keeping stats from the beginning. Not that stats really matter as I proclaim I'm sheep empress win or lose, that and I always say I'm going to beat you guys even if I dont! :) I would agree with Ment in reagards to the weighing of each game.

Oh and Hoosier that little joke you made? NOT FUNNY!

So what are we betting this time boys?
