Hmmm, I cleared the cache and cookies (took me a while to find them...and how to do it...and I still don't know what they are, but...) made no difference at all. But on the up side, if I am logged in then I don't seem to have a problem now. I logged in then shut down firefox, then went back in again and the portal page was there first time...but if I'm not logged in then I can't get to it at all.
