Time for a headache How many squares?

@Grief: If you've looking for squares with side lengths of 2, then the top left corner could be anywhere in a 12x12 grid pushed into the top left corner. So there are 144 squares with comprised of 4 subsquares . By a similar argument, you can show that if you're looking for a square of sidelength n, then there will be (14-n)^2 squares of that size.

QUOTE (Stalker @ Jan 23 2009, 01:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."
I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

I've taken into account all the overlaps, I think...can you give me an example of one that isn't included in my counting method?

My answer:
>0
<infinity
Unless of course this is a non-dimensional abyss based on Zeno's paradox, in which case there are an infinite amount of squares.

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRDS
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

The answer is 0. Apt himself said they weren't perfect squares. Acknowledging that they aren't squares doesn't magically make them squares, they are still not squares. Therefore, there are zero squares.

There is no spoon?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
