Hi everyone, I'm a long-time reader, but only a recent poster (as I'm sure you can see ).

I just wanted to tell you all about a project we're working on. Some people from another forum and I have gotten together to create a new Malazan Wiki, based on MediaWiki (the same wiki software that Wikipedia uses):

Like I said, Hood's Balls is a Malazan wiki based on MediaWiki. One of our key features is our Spoiler Level system. How it works, is a user selects which books they have read from a drop down on the page. Then, each wiki article is cross-referenced by what book it appears in. For example, if you've only read up to Bonehunters, any piece of information that is revealed in say, Toll The Hounds will be hidden from you (so as to avoid spoiling the death of a favorite character, or significant plot movement).

We also have plans in the works to create a map feature somewhat similar to Google Maps (although to be honest, that's not ready yet).

Anyway, we're just getting started, so we could definitely use help building content. I wanted to post a link here to see what you guys all think. Also, I would definitely like to encourage everyone to contribute if they so chose!

I'm fairly certain there is already a malazan wiki effort in progress. Are you going to do a humorous one?

Google shows several Malazan wikis (I understand there is one generally linked from this site, but it's not the only other one out there). However, we feel that the spoiler level and maps features help to make ours better.

Aside from the name, our wiki isn't really meant to be humorous. It's meant to be a genuine source of knowledge about the Malazan realm.

Sounds like a good idea, maybe the encyclopedia section of the forum would be a good place to look.

Cool, thanks for the suggestion. I've gone ahead and created a thread there as well (I originally wanted the exposure of this forum, and wasn't sure if that particular forum was dedicated to the other Wiki or not).

Yeah. Too bad ours is tied up with the PB Wiki boards, cause the PB wiki isn't all that visually appealing. Hopefully it'll get a nice overhaul when PB 3.0 comes around. There's lots you can do with scripting and such on the PBWiki system, but there are few among us who are good at that stuff, and Thesalus isn't as active as he used to...

Of course we strive to overcome that by having the most professional and scholarly-critiqued content, supported by wholesomely accurate referencing and the deterministic use of adjectives...
