I am having a weekly Fantasy Art post at my blog. At least I try to make it weekly, but it is not always possible, because of different objective reasons. But I try to keep this kind of posts constant.

The first artist of 2009 Fantasy Art posts is Mats Minnhagen. He is a Swedish artist who after pursuing an academic career turned to digital art, his favorite medium. He has a series of interesting works and one of them brought him a Master Award in Expose 6.

This week guest is the Spanish artist, David Munoz Velazquez. I find him very talented and imaginative and Concept Art World says that: “His artwork has hints of a Sci-Fi Dali”.

My Fantasy Art post has a renowned guest this week, Les Edwards. Les is an artist with a great talent and an impressive career of over 35 years in illustrations, with a huge number of book jackets and covers made in the Fantasy, Horror and Science Fiction genres. He also works using a pseudonym, Edward Miller, with excellent covers made for small publishing houses like Subterranean Press and PS Publishing. His talent was awarded with 7 British Fantasy Award for Best Artist, 5 nominations for the World Fantasy Award (won it once as Edward Miller) and 5 nominations for the Chesley Award.

Some fantastic art there. I knew Les Edwards' name seemed familiar, he's done some amazing artwork.

But I probably liked the image, "700 light years away" by David Munoz Velazquez the best. I like the idea of you interviewing the artists on your site. They don't get enough credit. Will definitely be checking back regularly.

Cool, I didn't know he made the perdido and scar covers. I loved those.

Yeah, this was a great idea for a blog to do. It is cool to see some art that I know.

Do you think you could interview Michael Komarck? He is doing the Subterranean Malazan artwork and it would be awesome to hear from him.

This week guest is the Portuguese artist, Andreas Rocha. Andreas has an architect degree and has worked in architecture field for 5 years. For over 10 years now he paints digitally and you can see the influence made by his architecture experience on his works, Andreas is specialized in 2d illustrations/matte paintings and 3d architectural visualizations.

I like the picture of Nimue from Bernard Cornwell's 'Winter King' - better than some of the covers I've seen.

My next guest is the French artist Christophe Vacher. Christophe has a wide experience in background and concept artwork for films, working for 9 years for Disney Studios and creating concept art for movies such as "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame", "A Goofy Movie", "Hercules", "Tarzan" and "Treasure Planet" among others. He also worked on Dreamworks' "Shark Tale" and now is Art directing the CG feature film "9", produced by Tim Burton and directed by Shane Acker. He also works now on personal artwork for galleries and covers for books, CDs and video games.

The guest of this week is Anne Stokes. She is a British artist specialized in fantasy and gothis art and who works as a freelance illustrator for about 12 years. Among her works are the illustrations made for the Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons and Dragons rule books and miniatures. She has a weak spot for dragons which are present in many of her works.
