HEre is this years Children In Need Mini-sode, which is a prequel to the Christmas Special...

I love the intro by Matt and Jenna and I think their chemistry is still every bit as good as it was in ASYLUM.

Also, Moonites. Heh!

So I purchased my first Big Finish DOCTOR WHO audio drama CD set (the one I posted upthread, DARK EYES) and I'm super psyched to get it (ordered the CD set instead of the download because I'm a collector), because I hear they are really well done.

So BLEEDING COOL reportedly has a very "solid source" that says that David Tennant is DEFINITELY returning for the 50th. This fits with what we knew so far, of him having Lunch with Moffat back in the late summer (not to mention dinner with Peter Davison, 5th Doctor), and the two times in video interviews, on one he played coy saying "Oh, are they going to do some 50th celebrations?" and the second more telling interview where when he is asked he says "Wellll....oh, I almost said something I shouldn't have", and goes on to be cagey about it again.

http://www.bleedingc...th-anniversary/

I want this to happen, and I want Eccelstone to return as the 9th (he might do it since his upset with the show wasn't with the character, but with RTD) and Paul McGann as the 8th....and if he's taking dinner with Davison too it might mean that we'll get all 11 (with the first 3 Doctor's who are all deceased, recast to match....I could see Sean Pertwee portraying his father's role) and that would melt my melon.

With clever editing, CGI, and colorization, they could "virtually" cast the first three Doctors as themselves using existing footage. Not sure you could get away with very much of that though. Just quick cameos, using doubles for scenes containing the live folks.

On the other hand, there's enough footage of Tom Baker you could probably remix an entire new 2-hr movie of the Fourth.

Maybe that's the next great mashup project - use existing footage of all 11 Doctors to create a new special! It would be choppy, but I bet you could get something cool out of it!
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Okay wow.

Big Finish audio plays.

WOW.

I'm SO impressed. I'm one hour into the latest 8th Doctor Adventure DARK EYES and I'm already considering buying the 8th Doctor's entire Audio Catalog. Simply stunning, and at this point in his life (still prior to the Time War) he's beginning to be broken down by both the scheming of his own race, and destructive races like the Daleks...and you can sense that the Last Great Time War is around the corner...

Paul McGann is absolutely, flat out amazing.

Oh and in a recent interview with Nicholas Briggs from Big Finish aboput what's up after DARK EYES for the 8th:

Sci-Fi Now: Where do you think the 8th Doctor goes from here?

Nicholas Briggs: He’s going somewhere that Matt Fitton, Alan Barnes and I are having a big meeting about soon. We already have a plan laid out and the idea is that the 8th Doctor’s next adventure will span three box sets, packed full of loads of different adventures.

Yeah, that sounds like the Time War to me...(which is lampshaded in DARK EYES when someone asks whether there could be a war between the Time Lords and the Daleks and he thinks at the time it would be preposterous)...LOVE that. Little does he know.

So for anyone who LOVED RTD's era for the drama and realism, but mostly for the character relationships (the 8th and Molly end up pre-echoing what the 9th had with Rose)....these are SO for you. So much more than the Moffat era is. Not to piss on Moffat's era or anything, but these audio plays are much more in the vein of RTD than Moffat.

We've created a monster.

My wife and I have been fleetingly interested in Doctor Who for the past few months, but never began watching until a few weeks ago. A special on the current Doctor caught my wife's attention, so we've started with those and are at the halfway point of season/series 6 ('Let's Kill Hitler'). We've enjoyed the ride so far but that pales in comparison to our 9 y/o daughter's fanaticism. I guess it helps that she's at the age where likes and dislikes are very intense and she's certainly taken a liking to Doctor Who. She's requested custard and fish sticks more than a few times in the past week (yes she uses the custard as a dipping sauce) and is constructing her own Tardis out of cardboard boxes in the basement. She can't hold a conversation without, in some way, referencing the Doctor (think of the montage with Mel/River Song in the mentioned episode and you've got the idea) and just yesterday spent a good hour listening to the Muse song that was in one of the episodes repeatedly.

Anyways, count us as recent converts and I'll take my daughter's obsession with Doctor Who over boy bands (which has begun to show up) any day of the week :twoguns:

We probably will be, but I'm not sure when. They're not available OnDemand right now, so I'll have to find other options for watching. I imagine NetFlix and Hulu would have it, any other suggestions?

Today's batshit rumour that I want to believe...David Tennant will be returning to the show as soon as this years Christmas Special THE SNOWMEN!

I wouldn't be surprised if Moffat was setting up 50th Anniversary stuff this far out...and it's provably just a rumour...but damn if that's true I will give full kudos to Moffat and Co. for keeping it under wraps this long. They would have had to have shot Tennant on a soundstage in the middle of the night to hide the fact.

Oh and in a recent interview when asked Christopher Eccelstone said "I could tell you, then I'd have to kill you..." and then puased, and then went on as if he knew nothing about it...compelling? Hmmm....

Latest news, reported by Blogtor Who but then taken down....probably at the behest of the BBC...

The well-respected Doctor Who fansite Blogtor Who published, just minutes ago, a compilation of rumours regarding next year’s 50th anniversary special. And then pretty much immediately deleted them.

But I have them all here, so let’s take a look.

Blogtor cite “trusted people (with no reason to lie)” in providing all of the following info.

They say that the show will be called The Eleven Doctors and, indeed, feature all eleven doctors. They stress that all of them have agreed to take part, even marking all in bold – which is odd, as not all eleven are alive. Perhaps they mean there are agreements in place to somehow feature all eleven?

The rumours go on, and Blogtor say that two script variants were being prepared, one to feature Christopher Eccleston more heavily than the other, dependent on how much he wants to be involved.

It’s said that show is to run for ninety minutes and will start shooting in February – while Mark Gatiss drama about the creation of the show is said to start shooting in January.

It is pretty clearly implied that these pieces of info were all corroborated by secondary or multiple sources as the story also said:

Series 7 Part 2 (8 episodes airing in Spring 2013) will lead into the 50th Anniversary with appearances from past Doctors in some stories. [I should add, I've only heard this from one person and, personally, I'm not too sure of its veracity. Included for completion.]

The rumours don’t actually stop with the 50th anniversary special either, as these unnamed sources have apparently also revealed that Matt Smith is set to regenerate in a subsequent special set for New Year airing – presumably the 2013-14 New Year.

Now, this post was deleted pretty quickly, and I have no idea why. Still, it was out there for a while…

So the theory being bandied about is that all 11 Doctors (yes even the dead ones, probably recast...Troughton and Pertwee's sons especially resemble and sound like them...) will be scattered throughout scenes in the 7 Series second half (beginning at Christmas, which would add credence to the David Tennant shows up as early as Xmas special theory)...and that it will culmiate in a special in which they are all features (though probably not all together)

Either way, this is some pretty hefty rumour stuff, but Blogtor Who is insider enough with the Beeb and WHO to have been invited to the premiere of the episode with the cast and crew for the last few years...methinks they talked to someone in the know...

Personally, if this happens I think as a fan it will be the warmest and most wonderful way to celebrate the show's anniversary.

Seems like it would be hard to write a show with all 11 of the doctors showing up in the span of 90 min with each having screen time and actually making sense. Unless they are all trapped as someone has collected all the variants of the doctor to finally kill him/them in a probably elaborate evil plot. And all they do is just get in each others way. I'm sure it will be good anyway.

That's why the current idea seems to be that they each show up somehow over the second half of S2 in cameos that pertain very loosely to the overall arc culminating in the Anniversary special.

the New TARDIS interior has been revealed. Loving this, very stark and much like Eleven's mood after losing the Ponds. Looks ALMOST like the classic TARDIS interior from the 60's.

There will also be a new variation on the opening theme music beginning at Christmas, AND a new opening sequence.

Spoilered for size
