Good ending to a season that nearly lost me. I wonder if that's the last we'll see of the Master?
I don't believe for a second that the Doctor & Clara are done.

Urgh I thought that was basically terrible. Some good moments, but as a whole it was a mess, and didn't remotely take advantage of the creepyness of the premise.
A shame after the very good first part.

Missy could very well have survived. All the other people that were disintegrated throughout the episode went up in a puff of red smoke, whereas Missy disappeared in a puff of blue smoke, so I'm assuming that she survived somehow.
I frikkin LOVED Missy as the Master. I thought the actress did such a great job of making the character consistent with previous Masters, while keeping just enough of her own gravitas to make Missy a unique character! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
And Cyber Brigadier had me nearly bawling my eyes out. How intense was that whole thing?
I'm assuming that Clara's preggers - she did seem like she was ABOUT to tell Danny that before he was hit by the car at the start of Dark Waters, but, yeah, events. The fact that they didn't save Danny came out of left field for me. I was NOT expecting that to be how this ended.

And she had "three months" written on two different post-it notes in DARK WATER.

I just assumed it was a different type of weapon that was used. As in, Missys phone zapper thing shot a red beam but Missy was killed by a Cyberman who shoot blue beams.
You could be right though!

Moffat has already stated in an interview recently that his fave thing about Classic Who was that the Master was unequivocally "killed" at the end of MOST of his episodes...but he always came back. I'm pretty sure she survived.

Let's be fair - even if Moffat had written that with the fullest intention of her being actually dead, the next showrunner who wanted to have a go would just bring her back anyway. There is no chance in hell that the BBC are letting the Doctor's second most iconic villain go that easily. Or at all.

It wasn't a blue ray of death or a blue ray of teleportation, it was a blue ray of intentional ambiguity.

Eh, I think you misunderstand the quote PG.
He's saying that the Master always survives, even when it seems like he doesn't.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, just reinforcing the point that the Master obviously survived. For many reasons. I can't believe people are actually considering that s/he's gone.

Ah! Noted then. Agreed. I can't understand anyone thinking the Master is gone any more than thinking the Daleks are gone.

Just found out that Faye Marsay (who played Anne Neville in THE WHITE QUEEN) is in the Christmas Special. Woot woot! I think she's a great actor!

How long before you get your hands on leaked season 9 scripts? I want to know if Coleman is coming back.

Finally got a season pass off iTunes and have watched up to THE CARETAKER. I think this season is great and I like Peter Capaldi's take on The Doctor. I also like the three-way dynamic of Clara, Danny & the Doctor. I even enjoyed the obligatory Dalek episode. Great start to the Capaldi era.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.
