Anyone have a modded 360?

So, I used to work w/ this dude that totally awesome-o-fied my original Xbox back in the day; thousands of emulators, the ability to play pirated games and rip any game to the HD. It was total win. On torrent sites I see that there are soft mods available, but I'm too chicken to mess w/ my warranty.

Just wondering if anyone has attempted any mods, and if so what the results were.

I'm too poor to afford new games and there are so many I want....

I thought modding the 360 would mean you couldn't use XBox Live? (Note I'm not 100% sure about that, just ssomething I seem to remember hearing) If that's the case, it could be a major turn off to people looking to mod their consoles - might make it hard to find someone who has done the deed.

Sir Thursday
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

Yeah, the modded 360 has a few major probems if anyone wanted to do it.

First: The red rings of death are frequent- it has happen to me 3 times so voiding my warrenty is something I would never do.

Second: Sir Thursday is correct that modding the 360 can get you banned from xbox live. Some mods like watercooling are allowed (I believe), but anything that actually messes with your box like ripping and such is an automatic ban as soon as you connect to live.

So honestly I suggest to just leave it in peace. I love my 360 and its functionality is perfect for what I want to be doing.

Yup. I'm on my 4th 360 so I wouldn't dream of doing anything to void my warranty. If you're strapped for cash I'd recommend going for something like GameFly.

Getting banned from live is the equivilant to chopping off your toes...not recommended.

So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

speaking of which, is there such thing as a PS3 mod? I've not found one though I've not excercised my full google-fu in search of it. I remember the old psone's and ps2's used to be a pretty easy mod. I had a buddy that modded them for beer money back in first year university.

and sorry for the fanboi ps3 jab, but your 4th fucking xbox!?!?!

that is fracking terrible. super glad of my choice. Slightly inferior game lineup on perfectly working ps3 > piece of broken shit machine.

A lot of that was because of the conditions of which I used the systems. They were on the carpet to which my cats snuggled up with the warmth, sucking in lots of hair and dander and what-not, I smoked in my previous apartments, and left them on for insane amounts of time.

I now have it up off the floor with plenty of room to breathe, and have had no problems what-so-ever.

Either way it's worth it, plus MS hooked me up with all kinds of shit after the third one went bad, and upgraded me to the HDMI version.

Is that one of those "wonderfull, intelligent, beautifull posts that give this forum meaning" posts I keep hearing about Apt? :p

Nothing compares to the sexbox. On a side note, I can't find anything to play on my shiny new Wii.

We've may have chipped *ahem* ours and I once thought that i had the red ring of death, but there were cables unplugged and then it was working again, no issues with x360 so far even with the possibility of an additional *cough* hard drive and stuff....Time will tell.

Don't be shy, but you won't be able to hook up to the live thingummywatsit, if you do.
