There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.

I agree with the Laseen, Taya, Kiska - in that order.

I don't think it was Coil/Haava, since one would assume that Possum could recognize her.

Quote

A woman's low voice breathed hot and damp into his ear, 'Let's see what she's got.' Despite the blazing pain of his abdomen Possum felt a shiver of hunger to know the possessor of such a voice.

Coil/ Haava High Mage thingy happens towards the end and not in the middle of Unta. And the High mage has used Mockra and Meanas to disguise herself. Possum thinks she s a traitor and kills her and then just before she dies she reveals that she was killing all the Black Glove claws.

mean more that Possum would have recognized Coil's voice at this juncture, regardless of her disguise.

I liked this element of Possum's story - he's the ranking Clawmaster with Topper gone and Pearl dead, but spends most of the book getting his butt handed to him by various women. When he finally manages to make a kill, it's someone on his own side. Notwithstanding all of this, he still jumps in to join Laseen against Cowl. And gets his butt kicked.

He's almost thoroughly ineffective, almost to the point of being 'bumbling', but fun to read.

- Abyss, considers Possum a malazan inspector clouseau...

I wouldn't say that Possum is useless, after all he's said to have stabbed the aforementioned Avowed multiple times, just not enough to finish him off, which is what Laseen then shows up to do.

Also I'd like to add that the description of Taya being not truly human is because of her mother; I can't say exactly where it's stated, although I guess it's in GOTM, that Vorcan is half/quarter/whatever Tiste Andii, that part being the "demon" part of Taya.

EDIT: After some more checking it seems that nobody else has ever heard of this quote, so it seems somewhat likely that I pulled this one out of the sky. Although, I still do have a feeling that I've read it somewhere...

You might be confusing Taya and Topper. Topper says he's half Tiste Andi in GOTM.

It's stated by Raest that Vorcan is a demon when he's talking to Rallick Nom in TTH .

Ah, that might be it. Never mind that explanation then.

Although, on topic, Possum's three women is indeed Laseen, Kiska and Taya.

It was the slut girl who held Possum at kinife point. When you first meet her with Rel she's sleazy, and it's a giveaway when she asks him in a sultry way how hw wants to be killed.

If there were no smart people others wouldn't feel inadequate.

Right?
