The way I read it, Rake mending the darks Warren and reuniting with MD empowered the redeemer and made him able to embrace salind. Is this at all accurate?
Also am I to assume that Silanah killed Gradithan? Why did Rake hold her off, why not just let her take the trash out earlier?
I have seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter at the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain...."

I guess you could look at the Redeemer (who is no longer Itkovian by the way, they're completely different characters) suddenly being able to embrace (redeem) Salind in terms of Rake giving him the power. I myself rather believe it's because MD and Rake showed the Redeemer how exactly he could redeem. Their actions, imo, gave the Redeemer a flash of understanding that made sure the Redeemer got his act together. All problems he was having before were suddenly solved. Anyways, I've started a thread about how exactly the Redeemer suddenly was able to redeem quite a while back now. The end of the discussion basically was that nobody really understood/knew what had happened. I'm kind of hoping SE will explain this in later books.

Silanah did indeed kill Gradithan, it would seem weird to me if he survived that is.

Rake didn't let her take out the trash earlier because the Redeemer had to learn his own lessons I think. If Rake just would've let Silanah loose earlier it would've indeed solved everything, but the Redeemer wouldn't have learned anything. Now the Redeemer did learn things and is ready to fulfill his duty as a true God now.
