However, the other point that your case hinges upon, which essentially boils down to his interpretation of what you were accusing him of regarding his first post of the game being different to what you intentionally intended, is not one I think is valid. Forgive me for saying this, but the one time you really emphasized that you were more annoyed about the drive-by vote and leave followed by another drive-byish vote switch, ie. this post:

Right, you said self preservation was bad for innos, good for evils. I said that. We agree. Its not a survival game unless you are evil. We agree right? The joke vote doesn't need an explanation and isn't really valid, its the vote, disappear, appear 6 hours later and vote without explanation. that is the reason for my suspicion. I am trying to be very clear here lio.I just do not see an explanation for you vote on me, in the post in which you voted. After I assumed it was because I was vocal, you explained, but not in the post you voted for me in. You simply objected to a statement and then agreed that self-preservation is good for team evil, as in last game, then voted me. It was a serious vote on me, it deserved an explantion in that post. Not after I pointed it out and then you go on the defensive. Just seems odd. Not vote worthy, but note worthy, for future referance.

is not particularly clear to me, despite the fact that you said you were in fact trying to be clear. I can understand Liosan not quite being able to see the angle you were coming from. And besides, his point that he was asleep is to a certain extent valid (although for a first post back I would have expected a little more substance, 'tis true). So the second half of your case doesn't really work for me.

It wasn't the vote that mattered. It was that it was his only post in over six hours. The contents of that post didn't matter. It was post onece, leave and whie I was typing that case, nothing of Liosan. The only vote I cared about was his on me. I had nothing to defend against. He gave no reason. ANd when I asked, he got defensive. Thats all. All I wanted was something to defend against. As for his I was asleep, fine. Good answer, but give me a fucking reason you voted for me. And that wasn't the case. My last part of the case, I tried to show what told me to vote Liosan. I HAD to check to see if anyone read it, Game and Rash got their own thing, and that took lot of work. Now I really really got to go. Night.

Most of the time we tend to forget bout trains unless they lead to a lynch. But they usually do, let's face it. And then if there was a train beforehand, its more or less buried under the rush of people analysing the lynching train.

Oh, I'm not disputing that people forget about the non-lynch trains, but rather that they shouldn't. Agreeing to put the hammer on even though you're not convinced of someone's evilness seems a bit unnecessary, that's all.

EDITTED for clarity.

I just ain't shy bout lynching someone if it needs to be done. I'd hope that if there's a case on me and I'm the centre of attention too, you'd hammer me. Cus otherwise it'll just drag on and rear its darn ugly head another day, or something equally as bad for us. It's Mafia, people. No need to be sentimental. We're not playing to survive, I don't walk into every game expecting to survive, but I do intend to win.

I don't think there's any sentimentality involved, it's plain numbers. While you don't get a CF if there's no lynch, if you think the guy in question is probably inno then lynching him is in fact a great help to the killers - one less inno means they're one step closer to achieving victory. Depends on how you balance the two, I guess, and how likely you think the player in question is to be inno.

Goes without saying. If there ain't no case on someone or if I don't agree with it, I won't vote, but I can see the reasons for voting both Kesobahn and Liosan. Sorry to y'all for not being clear. Still, though, I think it's better to get a lynch than go without, if there are people in question.
And as for the fact that if it involves sheer numbers/sentimentality, well, if a lynch has reached nine votes, it is probably going to happen one way or another. Its numbers, as you say, there are another eight people who might add the hammer vote. I just think its better to be doing.

Edit: that is, if you see the point of the case against them.

I really should go to bed when I say I'm going to bed, shouldn't I? :D

I understand what you mean when you say that it wasn't the vote that mattered. But he did give a reason for the absence. And then he did give a reason for why he voted for you:

View PostLiosan, on Dec 3 2008, 07:39 PM, said:

Dude, I'm voting for you for your attitude, and the shit you're giving people for their play-style.

Which seems quite clear to me.

But as I said, the last bit of your 3rd post seems far more likely to be a misunderstanding between the two of you than anything particularly incriminating, as far as I can see. It's all very well highlighting the relevant portions afterwards, but at the time there was enough doubt as to what you were emphasizing that I can see why he spent so long thinking that you were bashing him for his joke vote. That also explains his defensiveness, to some extent. If you think that someone is trying to go after you because of some first page spam (even if that is not what they are doing at all), then you're going to be slightly annoyed.

In any case, now I'm going to bed. Promise.

Because I will laugh SO FUCKING HARD YOU WILL HEAR AND FEEL IT FROM ACROSS THE WORLD.

Now, seriously, I did not "blow up" before. I vote for you. During a re-read.

THIS is why people don't talk - you post, you get slammed for whatever you write. If you defend, it's over-reacting, if you don't, it's ignoring the case. Sure, this is part of mafia - and I love it - but really now. You think you've found scum on day one, do you? Vote me then. I dare ya!

Ummm....Errr... WTF?
You know I am inclined to agree atm that you and Kess are just 2 confused innos.

But really a self vote(Liosan) and a bet on your card(Kess, assuming you do actually have one :D)? This is getting ridiculous.

So enough about them:

But if we need a lynch, I ain't shying away from providing y'all with the required hammer, on either of them.

WTF? What kind of stupid reasoning is that? I smell scum!

Either you think they might be scum, and then you vote for them, or you don't think they're scum, and don't vote for them. You don't vote for someone you think is likely inno! WTF!
And you want to hammer them?

And what do you mean if we need a lynch?

Well, it's simple. I ain't voting for either of them right at this moment. However, if it looks like we need to get rid of one of them simply cus there ain't no other option, I ain't averse to it. There's the possibility that I'm wrong about them being inno, firstly. The big possibility.
And secondly, ya get info from a lynch. Whether its from the train or from the CF. I'm prepared to do my bit, and I'd hope y'all would hammer me if it came down to it. If they get to a point where it's eight votes on one of em, they're gonna get lynched by someone. I'd rather take part in the train and actively play instead of sitting down at the dang sidelines. But until then, unless I see more unusual behaviour of either of them, I ain't voting. Not just yet, no how.

Gamelon I echo Rashan when I ask, WTF? You want to be the hammer of 2 probable innocents? huh? Helpful agreeable type anyone?

And Rash, you saying we don't need to lynch? Thats just a little odd from my PoV. I will agree that if it comes down to the wire a lynch is better than no lynch, because it does provide info and trying to analyze a train without a CF is then damn difficult because we have no clue what the alignment of the person that was about to be lynched is!

Just my thoughts atm. Still waiting on D'riss though :p

This is just getting frustrating. It seems, however, that Kess is doing a fine job of destroying his own case, and it wasn't that strong to begin with.

I agree with Korlat, here, we need to look at other people as well. *scurries off*

Just caught up
Very hungover... :D

What conclusions have i come up with you ask?

For starters, Kessoh seems to have a stick up his pooper or something.
I mean seriously, he's gave low posters a hard time in the first 5 hours of day ONE?.....SERIOUSLY?
Where do you come off?...what gives you the right to berate someone for putting in an acknowledgment post, a simple post to show they know the game os on, just before they go to sleep?
People do that "one off post and leave" every fucking time a game starts .
They are obviuosly just checking in to say that they know the game has started but cant contribute at that time.

WOW

just wow

And that coming from a person who advocates spamming because its less "boring".
So you would rather we all just talk rubbish that has nothing to do with the game?
Newsflash pal, if its got nothing to do with the game its not helping.
If you, kessoh, ARE inno. Pat yourself on the back, because you have just successfully helped team scum hide behind your huge shadow.
No one is looking anywhere else.

Now...the case on Liosan for me at least is rather rubbish.
As i have stated i have no problem with liosans first post/vote and resultant 6 hour disappearance. People do it all the time.
Its not an indication of scum at all. Sure it can be irritating if you are "bored" but how is that a sign of being scum?

Then liosans vote on kessoh...well it was quite clear to me why he voted.
Because kessoh was fucking acting the mafia paterfamilias and telling everybody how to play.
Talk about attitude...fuck in hell.

Now saying all this i am inclined to agree with Gamelon in that they are both probably inno.
Kessoh seems to have just got a too big of an ego or something with his "bet my card" story.
And liosan, for me, seems to have just got caught up in Kessoh's whirlwind of accusations.

So where does that leave us?.....fucking nowhere, thats where.
Thanks for getting the ball rolling kessoh, but i fear it is rolling in the wrong direction. I will however apologize to you IF liosan turns out to be scum.
But im sorry i just dont see it.

Who do i thnk is scum you ask?
Hmmm...i think kaschan and korlat need to be looked at.
They are hiding in plain sight. Seem to jut be sitting around picking up everyone elses cigarette buds if ya know what i mean.

So if its alright with kessoh, i will be doing some work now and will check in periodically.

NO, but they wouldn't have reacted in the manner they did either. I am doing this and spamming and talking to draw you all out, get you involved, at least if everyone hates me, you can all discuss my lynch and get info from each other, I appologize if you think I am too hard, but FFS I said it before, I'll say it again, Inno's shouldn't have to try and lay low. So I don't. Look at the heat and repression, shut him up, he is drawing attention from the killers. BS, I am drawing the killers out. I bet my mafia card Lio is scum. Game is consistent in his not liking my playstyle, so I cut him slack. Emur is probaby scum, because he advocates a silent game, never cool. there, I am done. I know I say alot, but I have nothing to lose. Its not like I am a Jester.

I never advocated a silent game. I advocated a game in which people are allowed to play as they want to play as long as they stay within the rules, not as you think they should play. If they consciously decide to play silent, then that is their prerogative. That is a real difference with what you say here.

You sir, put words in my mouth, and I am not liking that at all, especially not since I also gave you a list of all the tools you can employ against lowposters and escapists, but I see no mention of that here, instead, I am scum. Nice, I disagree and get tagged, never mind the content I provide. Woohoo!

People, if you are a killer, agree with Kessobahn and he's convinced you're inno, disagree with him and you're marked as likely scum. It's quite cute in its naievety. :D

I am also rather upset with Kessoh's strawmanning.
Very eagre to put out the wrong impression that one is.

He, if anything, could be a symp causing havoc...but a killer?....i doubt it.

Actually, I've dismissed Kessobahn from my system for now. I plan to reread his posts sometime later but right now I'm so horribly biased against him and his strawmanning (ban that word asap, I hate it and everything it stands for) that the bias might make me agree more with Liosan than I could want, for his response to Kesso's incredibly weak case is so off the charts that I suspect there is more to it, or allow me to be manipulated by others through it.

Jester seizing the first possible opportunity?
Or a guy with the never before seen Politician role (you win if you live by the end of the game and have accumulated the most votes on you)? Neither seems very likely...

Who knows, but the self vote sounded like a rather forced and thus faked mr. Frustrated to me and I don't know why. To me, it smells like Liosan's way too eager to get voted on for some reason, which is why I am holding my vote back at this opportunity, when my instincts scream to slam it down on him in bold italics at font size 6 due to the self vote.

Liosan, IGMEOY.

Also, @ Omtose: Korlat seems to adress several issues in a few lines in his post. Not a lot of new insight there, so worth watching to see if it continues and if Korlat is being escapist, but it is not always possible to give an entirely new angle on everything, so for now, benefit of the doubt there.

As for Kesso's alignment: I'm not going to speculate, it's one big bucket of WIFOM as its based on his behaviour and stereotypes, or going against stereotypes. I'd say that he judges himself entirely expendable, which could be a clue in itself.

I dont expect someone to come up with an entirely new angle on everything.
But why bother repeating what has already been said?

I think he is just stirring the pot.

Trying to be "helpful" perhaps?
Its definitely evidence of him being scum.
More so than anything else I have seen so far.

Liosan did over react somewhat. But i get the feeling he was just frustrated at Kessoh's manner. I know i would have been.

Also, @ Omtose: Korlat seems to adress several issues in a few lines in his post. Not a lot of new insight there, so worth watching to see if it continues and if Korlat is being escapist, but it is not always possible to give an entirely new angle on everything, so for now, benefit of the doubt there.

I personally found Korlat less... alarming (scummy would not be the good word, as I think Liosan isn't scummy per sé, but just incredibly overreacting, and it is that which makes me suspicious of him) than Liosan. I've been butting heads with Kessobahn as well, and while I uttered some strong language, I didn't feel the need to self vote at any point in time :D

That is what I find so alarming in Liosan. He could have removed his vote since then, too. But he didn't, so that leads me to deduct that his reaction wasn't some kind of angry lash out but a more calculated play.

Your mileage may vary.
However, I'll concede that if Korlat keeps his 'low content' posting up, he's a good target for voting/ lynching.

Hmmm
suppose you are right.
A self vote in itself should warrant some attention.
Forget everything else and it IS suspect.
I am not overly adverse to a liosan lynch today.

Some one mentioned that liosan could be looking for votes and he could have a specific role that needs votes or even to be voted off.
I dont think this is the case. If there was a role like that then i am sure self voting would not be allowed.

Right Yellow?....RIGHT?

Quiet thread is quiet. Guess we wait for the Americans to show.

On a serious note, this is the only thing that stood out among the day one jokery, on a quick read. Yes, I know its a song, but seems a bit pointless to add it in, and could be a FM trying to find his symp. Just pointing it out, because if it is a deliberate attempt to make contact, I cant see innos doing it, as paired innos would know who each other were.
Anyhow, im off for a bit. Gonna be a bit busy with RL, for a couple of days. I'll try to drop by when I can.

I am going to bed soon, so you may be modless a while.

And the mods would like to remind people that we'll be the judges on who should be modkilled, not some "other boards" :p

I agree, reading the thread it feels like there's more than one :D

OK - lynch me!

Remove Vote
Vote Liosan

Because I will laugh SO FUCKING HARD YOU WILL HEAR AND FEEL IT FROM ACROSS THE WORLD.

We really need to have a reminder session about the concept of "team game" :D

Also, relax when people call you scum. That's not a judgement about your wonderful character, but a very foreseeable side-effect of playing a game when the whole fucking point is to find scum.
