Of those Whiskeyjack should be included. Head of the BB's during 7C campaign. A High First of an army at the time of Dassem's death equal to Surly who became Emperess.
At the time of Dassem's death:
-WJ wasn't a High Fist
-wasn't equal to Surly
-wouldn't even have been equal to Surly if he was a High Fist (Imperial Regent outranks High Fist...)
but still, Old Guard. Seriously, first page, I made a list. I think it sums it up nicely, myself...
I thought he was in charge of an entire army with Dujek under him. An Surly was certainly not bossing him around during the first seen of GotM. Your first page report was certainly fine by me.
Sincerely,
L'oric
Well he was a sub-commander of the 3rd Army a few months before the GotM prequel (if that is a real rank, and not ICE just being weird). In the GotM prologue he is referenced (repeatedly) as Commander, which is a common rank often misused contextually as a simple noun (ie Dujek is called commander, because he commands, but his rank is High Fist). Still, there's definitely no indication he would be High Fist. WJ wasn't in charge of even the 3rd Army, let alone an entire campaign, and Surly wouldn't want him very high up when she started taking serious control. A promotion from sub-commander to Commander of the 2nd Army as it begins its Genebackis campaign sounds about right to me, for lack of any more information. Her not bossing around is just WJ being a toughie.

They opened a bar in Malaz City on Malaz Island and later gained access to the Azath House in Malaz City on Malaz Island (i.e. the Deadhouse) as a base of operations. Their first recruits were a young boy named Dujek and the Napan refugees Amaron, Hawl, and Nok. They later recruited the Napan refugee brothers Cartheron Crust and Urko Crust, with Urko Crust subsequently marrying Hawl. They also recruited the Napan refugee Surly as a barmaid for Kellanved's bar, another Dal Honese, like Kellanved and Dancer, named Dassem Ultor, a soldier from Malaz City on Malaz Island named Duiker to be their Historian, and a seemingly renegade Demidrek (i.e. High Priest) of D'rek, the Worm of Autumn, from Kartool named Tayschrenn.
Hurray, incest.
Actually Maltay, Nok married Hawl, and you have some other errors in there (Tays wasnt a renegade, Duiker was not part of the old guard until much later, during the Quon Talian conquests, etc.), plus you're trying to describe the Family and not the Old Guard. I suggest re-reading this whole thread, as we've pretty much dealt with all that.
Good try, though!
