My current favourite cover, though (for entirely lascivious reasons) is this one:

It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

That is what happened. I thought the Lizard King one was pretty good. I must say, though, I'm having trouble distinguishing this thread from the shit covers one. Some of those ones on here are PANTS

I was going to post these! - they are my favourite malazan covers, the pic of Rhulad is just great.

(The GotM cover with Rake is great, but when a sword in it's scabbard is longer than your arm, you can't get the thing out.)

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

The "Foundation's Edge" cover is one of my absolute favorites. Sadly, the copy I own has the terrible cover with the girl running across it.

Anything by Michael Whelan is awesome just by definition.

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Terry Brooks gets some great covers, I think because Steve Stone does most of them (although I think Stone is totally wasted on the kind of covers he's asked to do nowadays, if I'm honest).

Gypsy Morph is a prime example of what I'm talking about: does a great picture as shown by Kazaman's cover above, then for the UK cover we get this:

And some of the others are like staffs and swords. I mean, he's good at them, but if you're going to hire him, why go with an image that doesn't make use of his talents?
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Oh bah, I couldn't find a pic of my favorite Elric cover. It's not pretty or anything, just it matches my image of Elric - gaunt, dead-white, scary and not hugely muscled like a barbarian warrior. Just cause he has a famous sword doesn't mean he is built like WWF wrestler.

This one isn't too bad:

This one was one of my first favorites. Now I don't think it's particularly good but its almost one of the only covers that really depict an actual scene.

Posted Image

This is neat, the title of the book (Abarat) as written on the cover is an ambigram, it is the same even if you look at it upside down:
