Read this trilogy a while back.

Wondered if any of you guys have read it, and perhaps, if not, I'd advise you give it a whirl.

The story lines are good, the characters are brilliant and the wars are even better.

I've not seen it yet but I've heard of it.

What rating would you give it? And in comparison what books does it rank beside?

I have not read it. No ebook edition is available, even on the darknet. So....

I haven't read it. Can you give us a bit more background on the book? I'll have to take a look for it next time I'm at the book store. I couldn't find it in e-book format either Astra.

Ive read it. The story is told through the eyes of a junior officer in an army, and it follows his career as he progresses to high stations. his pal also progresses through the book, and he is the seer bloke. its quite good, and the battles are cool. its told in first person though, so if you dont like that, it might be a bit of a struggle.

I want to die the way my dad died, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I dislike his habit of splicing in almost random hardcore porn scenes, but overall the book isn't too bad.

To be honest I don't mind a sex scene of two, but there was probably about ten in that. That adds up to maybe a chapter and a half of fullblown porn.

It just seemed unnecessary, tbh.

I thought that. I was suprised the publishers didnt cut some of out. it doesnt add to the story whatsoever

It's toned down ever so slightly in the sequels, so that it is contained in a few chapters that are pure pornography. In one of them there was a scene that meant I could never look at soap the same way again :thumbsup:

I enjoyed the second one, it seemed very reminiscent of Napoleon invading Russia, if you know what I mean. The series as a whole though, I wouldn't really call it anything special. Not horrible, just average and full of porn ambushes.

actually Thursday, i felt the whole series was based on napoleon, with the seer king (whose name i can't remember as its been YEARS since i read them) as napoleon.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the third book have the king coming out of exile and leading his army to a final battle as well?
