I saw the Heros Die cover and dman its bad, but as someone pointed out, its not the worst. So, I want to see some you think are terrible.

I'll start with one that I know is far from the worst, but it has always struck me as an awful cover.

Good book, but even Card was embarrassed at the first cover he received for this one:

Attached File(s)

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Mr. B is a huuuuuge fan of Michael Shea. It took him months to convince me to give Nifft a chance - I could hear this cover whispering to me: "Do not touch this book!!!!"

The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues.

Yeowch! The book sounds worse than the cover.

What makes me laugh (aside from the woman's uber 70's ensemble) is the "New York Times bestselling author" blurb. I mean...really??

And it's an ewok-bear hybrid. An ebear. Or a bearwok.

They're not ugly as such, but the covers for the entire Dresden Files series in the UK are pretty dire in terms of the purpose of a cover, as an advertisement for the book. Whoever thought that basing it on an office filing system was going to persuade people to read it needs to be slapped and then fired. Something they appear to have realised because the most recent one has gone for a faux-faux-leather file thing, which sounds laughable but is marginally more interesting to look at, especially since they've put a bit more effort into the distinguishing mark on it.
I'm pretty sure they're a factor in the relatively slow uptake in popularity of the series here compared to the states, because no-one's going to pick them up on a whim.

I guess I don't get the humor here. David Wolverton = David Farland = NYT bestselling author.

And really, the first book (The Golden Queen) isn't bad. I'd like to track down the next two.
