Hi all, first time poster here.
Been reading the forums for quite some time now, but there's been one thing that I've been confused about.
In HoC, Traveller appears on Drift Avalii and from reading here it seems that the general consensus is that he's Dassem Ultor.
Now I've read all of the books apart from the novellas, TtH and RotCG but towards the beginning of HoC there is a conversation between Tavore and Nok. Nok is basically explaining the 'Family' that Kellanved used to conquer Malaz Isle and he explains that after Kell and Dancer, they recruited Nok, Hawl, Ameron, Cartheron and Urko. It wasn't until later that Surly, Dassem, Tayschrenn, Dujek etc were all recruited.
After Cutter and Apsalar first meet Traveller, Apsalar commented on how he was one of the first. Back in the time when there was just the three; Kell, Dancer and 'Traveller'. Traveller was there before Surly, Tay and a few others.
Now, looking at both those conversations, it would imply that Traveller was one of Nok, Hawl, Ameron, Cartheron and Urko. Nok is accounted for as Admiral of the Malazan Empire so that's him out. Cotillion names Hawl as one of the fallen on Drift Avalii so that's her out. Cartheron is Captain of the Ragstopper and his brother Urko is (I believe) Keeper who Karsa and Torvold found after exiting the Nascent.
So wouldn't this leave Ameron? Traveller is stated as being Dal Honese and out of the original five recruits only Cartheron and Urko are named as being Napan. I think that Ameron's race was left out in Nok's descriptions.
Apologies if this has been brought up before, but I did a search on Traveller and it was all about how he was Dassem, so I thought I should just put in my two cents.

I'm just re-reading through everything before I start on RotCG and TtH and that whole part confused me a bit is all.
