Jack Reacher Which actor?

Apparently the Lee Child novel "One Shot" is being adapted for a movie.
So who would play Jack Reacher, a 6'5" hard as nails ex MP? Clint Eastwood would have been perfect 30 years ago but he's a bit old and creaky now.

I used to like the Reacher books a lot. The last few I've read have been rather disappointing though.
I'd imagine Hollywood would have to forget about finding an accomplished actor that matches Jack's physical stature...not many around that are 40/50-ish, 6'6" and 260#s of pure muscle. They'd probably have to go with one of those WWE wrestlers-turned-actors if they wanted that.
It will probably end up being someone that's under the radar. I vote Tony Danza.

Had to bump this coz I'm reading the books now and cannot comprehend them choosing Tom Cruise.
Slum pretty much nailed it all those years ago.

I've always thought of him as a Reacher. I mean when something's on the top shelf, he's really gotta stretch for it.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Even pre-TAKEN I 've always thought of LIAM NEESON as perfect for the role of JAck Reacher. He's around 6'4"-6'5" and used to be a handy amateur boxer so can easily do the physically imposing bit.
Still struggling to think of another actor these days that could do that role as easily, but was absolutely baffled by the choice of Tom Cruise.

Agreed - has to go down as the worst casting decision EVER! It's simply moronic - what was even more bullshit though was Lee Child's supposed response to the question of how he felt about a puny 5'4 actor playing his indomnitable-bad-ass-mo'fo-beat-the-world Character - something along the lines of "Reachers physicality was always more of a metaphor for an unstoppable force which cruise portrays in his own way".
Fuck off Lee. Great writer - and it surely wont stop me buying your work, but fuck right off with that shit!

I've never heard of this. Is it something like the Bourne books?
Not sure I'd compare it to the Bourne books.
Basic gist of the books is that the titular character is a former Military Police officer who has left the service after an unspecified incident, and has decided to drop off the radar and travel around the country. Along the way he stumbles across a few situations and inevitably gets involved. This usually involves him dismantling any of the bad guys that get in his way.
Now obviously that's a very simplistic take on things, but the books are quite enjoyable whodunnits. Rather than Bourne, I'd say the books are more like the movie TAKEN in how things play out, as Reacher destroys all those that get in his way. And they're fun for that very reason.

Cruise might be small, but have you guys seen Collateral? He can certainly radiate menace if he wants to.

I'm up to ep 3 of the series.
And so far, it's good. I haven't read the books, but from what I have read about them Alan Ritchson is really embodying the character, pun sorta intended.
I read elsethread a couple of others have watched it, anyone else?

Pretty good show, enjoyed it. Only real criticism was the final ep:
Caution - this is in spoiler tags for a reason. You have been warned.
Eight violently and pragmatically (Hallelujah! A good guy who isn't fucking dumb!) killed bad guys out of ten.
