Poll - Voting for yourself

I've put this in here so that people still playing the game don't look into it too much.
Which would you prefer? Being able to vote for yourself, or not?

I think you should really, except under special circumstances(in a special type of game, massive TMDI, etc where it would be bad)
I dont think it matters in a jester game, because if a jester self-votes, then its probably gonna be quite obvious theyre jester, or at least suspected, and it would be an interesting bluff to try to pull, if not.
Although personally I just dont like people self-voting. It irritates me.

The only problem with letting people vote for themselves in a Jester game is that nobody would send the voting to L-1, cos then the Jester might come and hammer himself.
Other than that, I really don't see why you shouldn't be able to do it.

I left it to the mod. This is typically one of those things I'd be very careful with (although I personally think it could easily be allowed in most games). If we would make it standard and it was suddenly removed from the rules, everyone would go and scream "Jester!" before you've sent the first role PM. Not cool if you don't publish the roles in advance.
What I would like is a "library"/sticky with all the standard rules in it in the nice logical write up.
Mods can copy-paste from that, and then delete/add what they dislike from 1 basic standard text, instead of having to rephrase rules or copy-paste stuff from earlier games, then forget what quirks were in those rules, and then get caught with their pants down by a player who noticed one passage missing/ added where it shouldn't have been.

I don't see a problem with the rule - I think people should be able to vote for themselves - it's not something we should decide for the player.
But essentially it's up to the mod - some games it might not work voting for yourself, for instance, because it might ruin the setup.

yes, I think they should
if a game is stuck in L-1, with a lynch unlikely, but the CF on an inno would clear up a lot, a person should be capable of hammering themselves. It's a team game, after all.
The only exception I can think of is if it's a weird "everyone for themselves" set up, where you lose if you die. in that case, self-vote is directly contradictory to your winning objectives (surviving)

As I just stated in the spoiler thread, I think deciding what should be allowed is up to the mods of the individual games. Yet, I also think it would be practical to use the rule set that we originally copied from Westeros and have used for most games as a template of sorts. Not that the mods would have to use it at all, but it is easy to just copy it and change whatever rules you want. Just highlight what rules have been changed so that it is known in advance of the game. I think such a practice would reduce confusion and discussion about the core rules. Still, it should by the end of the day be up to the mods to decide what rules to use, be it the westeros ones or some other set.

I voted for yes unless it is a jester game but Actually I am thinking that it should be a Mod decision. Retarded move yes I know....
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

I've been thinking for a long that that we should have a general rules thread for the mafia games, that the game mods can refer to - instead of copy-pasting the same rules over and over - in the intro posts. Then, if there's some rule that the game mod wants to change, or if something wouldn't work in the game, the mod can state that in the intro posts instead.

I agree with Morgo here.
I thought we did have a general rule set? Meh.
It's up to the mods, but in a standard game I think it's fine. Anything where you're on your own, or there are jesters...unless the mod feels otherwise....not so fine.
