Possible. That could make him:

Spoiler

I don't think age matters much anyway, after a point, whihc all that bunch are certainly beyond.

I mean, it doesnt seem relevant to power that much anyhow, not age dependant.

just to throw it in, cause i stumbled onto it recently: k'rul, though he is many times described as the shaper of paths, isnt he originally the god of dreams? cause i think it was in the prologue of MoI, but surely somewhere in the beginning of that book, that someone says that burn chose to walk the path of k'rul. and from the witch of tennes we know that burns sleeps to dream.

I think Osserc is older than Rake. No real proof, but the RotCG prologue gave me the impression that he was elder.

i think there is not much different between those two, cause it seems that rake is pretty much as old as most of the elder god, and whether you are 500.000 ot 550.000 years old, is virtually the same to me.

Seg 1st, definitely younger

What in the RotCG prologue? Both Rake and Osserc were mentioned. True, Draconus called Rake an "upstart"...but that doesn't show much. Especially when Draconus was killed by Rake. Denuth thinks about how Osserc may have walked the paths of Light before they knew Dark - but we know that Rake walked in Darkness before it knew Light. But yes, age doesn't make that huge a difference in power levels. As I said, it just gives you more chances for ascendancy, and more chances to refine your control and expand your power.

And past a certain point thats irrelevant.
When you're all more than 500,000 years old, a few centruies difference isnt gonna make much odds.

Osserc probably seems older, more fundamental because he is referenced by himself and as the First Son of Light, and such, while Rake has his two brothers. Furthermore, Rake is mostly seen in a role with his race, the Andii, which makes him seem as part of them, while Osserc is mostly seen apart from the Liosan, making one think he is not as associated with them (and hence might be a precursor to the Tistes altogether)...

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

That would be why it is more likely that he is an elder god and not just an ascendant liosan.

I still think Osserc is weaker than Rake. I remember there was a mention in RG of how Rake was one who did not embrace his worshippers and this made Osserc angry, who attempted it but always failed. This suggests a certain naivete.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Not particularly.
I believe we also see:

Just a sort of thing about the more bestial nature of the times, perhaps?

I believed that Rake having scales was because he had just drank Tiam's blood and maybe couldn't perfectly control this new power.

Maybe osserc ate a jaghut...

I have to say I doubt he's exactly the same as other liosan.

Its possible he's an EG, but I dont even see why taht would make him look different from other liosan.

Also, he's probably powerful enough to magically alter himself, and we know he likes experimentation...

That makes sense...but I thought Shadow's manifestation would be like Light-sudden and, dare I say it, explosive.
