Return of the Crimson Guard SPOILERS and a spoiler from the latest ICE interview

As in the Dust of Dreams scenario, what do you all think will happen in this book?

I'm guessing this will deal with Korel (obviously).
From that ICE interview, it looks as if the new emperor will be pressing for a new campaign in that land.
Expect to see:
1: Greymane, he is integral to the history of the place. Some history on how he formed the peace with the Koreli forces will be good.
2: Iron Bars and the Stormwall.
3 The StormRiders. Ever since the end of NoK, we know that they feel agrieved. I'm hoping for a pov from one of them.
A possible relationship between them and the Jaghut may be explored.

*SPOILER for Lees of Laughter's End *

I'm hoping we see some more of the Chanters from Lees. They're from a city on Korel IIRC. Jhags rock :)

I'd like a cameo from Bauchelain and Broach also :)

No, not really. I think the Stormriders could have been introduced at any number of occasions.

The event you mention in the spoiler, most likely did not take place on Burn.

I'm really interested to see where Greymane's storyline is going.

Also, is Kyle ICE's "Crokus" character?

Actually, Kyle annoyed me. He was wayyyyy too farmboy-with-magic-sword. And still didn't do much.

True :) But his magic sword was actually Osric. If it weren't for Traveller and the Lost Boys, Kyle would be a nice reddish stain somewhere. Must say, I preferred him to Crokus. Less whining. And dead forum is dead.

But he got Osric sword as thanks for, presumably, bringing Osric back.

Since Crokus and Sister Spite set out for parts unknown in TTH maybe we'll get lucky :p and get both Kyle and Crokus in Stoneweilder...

I hope Greymane ditches the Lost Boys and Kyle but I expect that Kyle will turn up being the PoV that shows his and Greymane's efforts to unify Riders/Malazan/Koreli in order to foil some sort of CG scheme.

I expect, unless of course we get all new characters, Nait/Jumpy to turn up as the PoV from the Malazan side. With the Moranth munition worship of ROTCG I would not be suprised if Nait/Jumpy blows up the Stormwall at some point, Perhaps allowing the Riders to go back to their home dimension or something.

I hope Ghelel and Kiska turns up as PoV's.
Ghelel trying to lie low and make a living on the Koreli (and avoiding the Claw) but geting dragged into the fight anyway, perhaps on the Koreli side, to give us a convieniently placed PoV in the army oposing the Malazans and encourage us to feel for all sides.
Kiska looking for Tayschrenn, perhaps with the new High Mage, Bela(?) and/or Mallick trying to stop her since a returning Tay might "disaprove" of their activities.

Yes, a story line based on kiska's search for Tays might be nice

This might be obvious, but since no-one else has mentioned it yet, I will.

ROTCG said:

Stalker frowned his scepticism. 'This Greymane better be as good as everyone says.'
Ogilvy chuckled and his eyes lit with a hidden joke. 'A price on his head offered by the Korelans and the Malazans too. Renegade to both, he is. They call him Stonewielder. I hear he's worth a barrelful of black pearls.'

So, yeah. That would explain the title.

Yes he wields Stone, presumably Burns Sword like Brood does carry Broods Hammer

Anyone considered that maybe Greymane is Burns Mortal Sword while Brood is the Shield Anvil or somethin ?

They said that in this book the Empire will try to end the Korelri Campaign.... Any suggestions how they will do that ? Complete conquest ? Peace treaty ?

But Brood is an Ascendent as well, not a mortal.
A better status for Brood would be champion (or some such) in the House of Burn.

Broods ascendant nature doesn't really matter. I think he might be the destriant... seeing as he can heal.

iirc Brood's a High Mage of Denul... So the healing is explained quite easily.
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Yes Brood has High Denul and remember Greymane didn't use his 'Stone' sword against Skinner and says as much.
