Baggage class beats the general public on the cheap flights. For me, it gets to the point where, now that I am planning a trip to Prague. it's either 13/15 hours by train with the return journey sitting instead of sleeping, or 2 hours easyjet or its equivalent and a few euros more. I'm feeling a lot like catching a train...

When I flew from LA to London (on Air New Zealand... I don't get it either) I was stuck in between a crazy Slovakian woman and her Nonagenarian grandmother, because they get there before me, and she wanted the aisle seat while her mother wanted the window. Now, as much as I would have liked to evict the old bat from my seat, I wasn't quite that mean, so spent 8 hours stuck between these two. They kept offering me apples, it was quite scary. Pedobear was lurking...

Well, trains ARE hellishly expensive in Germany at least, and I guess further west as well. Here 2nd class trains are quite cheap, and quite tidy all things considered. My sis went to Milan the other week, went on some italian regional train and said ours are world class in comparison - she and her friend seriously contemplated standing through the whole trip in a mostly empty train, cos the seats were that dirty and sticky. And that's NORTH Italy, the part that's supposedly richer? I shudder at the thought of, say Campania, Calabria or Sicily.
So, from this perspective, flights are really effing expensive to me. Even cheap flight options like a flight from Berlin to Amsterdam Lufthansa offers, that's 360 PLN (that's something like 95 EUR). Consider now, while the minimum wage in Belgium is 1387, 1321 in France and 1462 in Ireland... in Poland it's 281. 306 in Czech Rep. Bulgaria - 123. Consider that along with the fact that international flights, hardware, software, all electronics, cars, well, often even real estate - they cost the same amount here as for you. This is a country where taking a loan for a buying a flat or house is often a 30 year contract.
So, you understand, people saying "nevurr with them peasants on a plane, RAWR" kinda makes my blood boil.

Hehe, I understand - and that is an insane gap in wages - makes thinks different. Although train prices being expensive... I dunno, I was positively surprised at the cost of them. I can get to Prague for 44,- euros in a 6 person sleeping coupé with the Hi-speed, while the train to the kick-off station (1 hour of travel) will cost me around 12,-. Internationally, the train is pretty cheap, quite reliable and not very hectic - it just takes a while.

Got The Saboteur today (admittedly on the cheap), only to find out that it doesn't work on ATI graphics cards, nor does the patch even work. So now I can't play it, and have wasted my money. Stupid EA piece of crap, shoulda got Metro 2033 instead...
