Mmmm. You sort of expect this from time to time when a number of your friends have MHDs. And it just makes me angry more than anything else, that so little is done in this country to help those who have them.

Far as I know it was a massive overdose, possibly a polydrug (but that part is just conjecture on my part). I suppose that's a small mercy, because it's relatively peaceful.

On my part, this will spur me much harder to get Incarnate out there because she was so excited to get a chance to read it. To fail now would be to piss on someone's memory and I refuse to do that.

Condolences Maark.
Lack of resources for mental health issues is a problem in every single part of the world I've studied, couple that with the fact that most people don't even get to the correct practitioner for their problems and you get clusterfucks like this.

Exactly. The lack of funding is bad enough, but the practitioners themselves.... a friend went misdiagnosed for years. He was given meds for Schizophrenia when he had mild bipolar disorder

Damn Mark. Not much you can say, but hang in there. Drink a beer, get away.. do what is good for you. A healthy you is a better person for those around you.

It's sucks cause once you understand that people can A) dissociate. Lose there shit due to negative circumstances :) litterally been given the wrong pills for their problem. If I gave you.. anyone ...well seemingly normal person a anti-psychotic you might kill yourself. Really. True story. C) true empathy and compassion must be given toward mental health. Nobody knows others experiences and it just disgusts me to know that people state ignorant shit like just think positive, or nothing's physically wrong....D) better treatment and understanding

/gah we are so dumb about the way we treat this subject. Drives me bonkers

Fuck. Forgot some stuff I needed to work on at home at work.
Gonna have to get to work for 7 AM tomorrow morning, and it's gonna be a super-hectic day, as I've a deadline tomorrow.

The super-frustrating thing is that I'm ALWAYS paranoid about forgetting my USB flash drive @ the office- a few times I actually checked mid-way to the subway and doubled back for it.

But tonight I only remembered as I was turning into our housing complex.

Gonna have to print a reminder sign and pin it to my office door.

Hoping things work out, Maark

Following up on my whine from yest: thank Christ my dad was around to give me a lift to work. As we were pulling in, my phone alarm went off. This is when I normally wake up for work...

Ex texted me to let me know the kids were crying/clinging to her when dropped off at school and daycare. I think she just wanted sympathy but it's damn depressing to hear about such things, as if this divorce doesn't feel awful enough as is.

As the son of divorced parents (my sister was 16 and I was 13) I feel I can say this.

Just make every visit with them center on them. Do as much as you can with them. Let them know that you both love them very much and do your best to make the transition from one family to two families as smooth as possible. Keep as many routines the same as you can.

And though it might be tough, don't disparage your ex in front of them or to them. My mother did this...and it had a horrible effect on me that literally affected my relationship with my father until I was in my 30's. After which I realized that my mother was just an angry jerk and used us to make herself feel better by crapping on my dad every chance she got. In hindsight I'm mad at myself for basically believing every nasty thing she said...without really having both sides.

Exactly. I feel that there is no greater trauma for a child than having to choose between parents or to have one parent complain/criticize another in his presence. As a child your parents are your rock. You don't want to see any cracks in it. I was exposed to some of this at a very early age and it did not help.

Yeah, Colorado has this mandatory parenting after Divorce class which acts was OK. The two biggest take aways for me were not to bad mouth the ex in front of the kids and never talk business (divorce stuff) in front of them. So far I have pretty much held to that since learning how much trauma it causes.

Yes...first rule of divorce with kids - Put The Kids First.

That includes not dumping the parents` emotional crapfeste on them. They have enough to deal with.

What everyone else said. Kid time = no personal crap time.

Messing with me right now: the fact i've been up since God knows when; the adrenaline (SHIT, DEADLINE!!!) + caffeine are both wearing out, and my wrist is killing me from typing non-stop for several hours.

Been drinking so hope this makes sense:

So layoffs are happening after my company got bought out and it's brutal. 20-25% cut across the board!!. You can volunteer and I decided not too today. What a rough decision and here's why:

I think about six months ago I was complaining here we just got a fucking anvil dropped on us amount of workload. Whatever corporate America.. It happens. I made a mistake and messed up some paperwork. Well shit guys you gave me this much work and I usually make a mistake about 1x/ year, got talked too-don't do that again. Yes, I was clearly in the wrong and I got couched on it, knew what I messed up right when it was brought up...This happened in October as a note.

So my manager is out, laid off last week. I get this stuff brought up again saying that this never made it x and x level. So boom..got nuked right before time on voluntary decision .. but I decided just not to sign anything they handed me from said previous October incident. Me and my buds went out tonight and it was split decision on said signing of acknowledgement of document. (I did go through the companies internal policies and there is nothing in the verbiage that states timelines on this sort of thing, it's all quite obscure)

*If I do get shitcanned , I'm not looking for a job for 72 days, so also debating the logic on that. ( 8 months emergency funds-- did the math like 5 times)

Even worse the girl, who I sit next to is a single mom did volunteer and to me that's just awful.

Sitting in the airport after saying goodbye to the family for another 8 weeks or so.
Harder than the first time.
I left the little one asleep because it was really early and he won't get back to sleep. He's going to be gutted when he wakes.
My oldest got up to see me off, and was crying from the second he opened his eyes.
Herself obviously kept her shit together for the sake of my boy, but she's hurting as well.
We've never been apart in the 15 years we've been together and she's by far my closest and best friend.
Hard man.
Need to make it worth all this shit.

I finally managed to get my hands on some meds that actually help with my hayfever. Like magic. Awesome!

..Why's this not in the happy thread? I have a creeping suspicion that those very same meds have been causing me non-stop migraines for the past three days, starting the day after I started taking them. It's that or the weather. I sure hope it's the weather. Not that it NOT being the weather will stop me from taking that stuff. Breathing and sleeping the headaches off is much more preferable to not breathing and not sleeping.

Obviously you don't live in Denver. There is a reason to stay indoors here
