When Aurora happened it was to far away to worry me at the time however the Lafayette(next major city over from me in Lake Charles) is insanely to close for comfort for me. Thus when we go see SW in a few days it's going to be hard to sit comfortably without wondering if I'm in a show with the next nut job in it. My friend has his permit to carry and I'm considering bringing my .380 since metal detectors aren't installed yet just incase. I'm not saying this to get in debate on if this is effective having armed citizens and I won't respond if I see any replies but it's more peace of mind especially after Lafayette. Who wants to sit in SW wondering if shit is going to go down?

All that said even with the increasing violence day to day I don't worry about this stuff constantly every time I go anywhere. That just wouldn't be healthy but it is always good to be observant and know where your exits are.

Gun Free Zones are deathtraps...

@ Worry: With these stadium seating at movies theaters all ours switched to one fire exit out here in Phoenix in the last decade. Genius!!!

Gun free zones are death traps.
I can see the problem alright, you aren't allowed guns, thus the nra members go into rage mode and beat hundreds to death with their bare hands.

This attitude right here is a massive part of Americas problem.
Gum free zones are not death traps, wildly unregulated gun ownership is a death trap.
Head, ass, remove, please, your, from, your. Reorganise as you see fit

A friend of mine did a quick bit of research on the states in which mass shootings have happened in correlation to their gun laws:

Quote

Not my usual research, but I did a count of mass shootings in states w/varying gun laws:

Prohibited: 134
Licensed: 81
Open Carry: 138

There's no correlation between states that readily let people carry guns and lower mass shooting rates.

Jeezus.

So America...almost more days with mass shootings than without apparently.

This is an utterly APPALLING statistic.

Is there many cases of someone in the crowd having a gun and taking a mass murderer out before he kills a bunch of people?

Australia enjoys another peaceful day under oppressive gun control regime. Best line "no one has died as a result of a mass-shooting on Australian soil today, for the 7158th day in a row."

No.

Earlier this year, there were several interviews with an ex-military man who was carrying guns on the far side of an Oregon college campus from where a mass shooting was occurring. He said "I didn't go there because I thought I would get shot by the police responding to the attack."

http://www.rawstory....-oregon-killer/

It's really almost never a thing to have someone else carrying a gun and stop a murderer before/during a mass shooting. What's interesting is his particular word choices suggest that he thinks the truly appropriate group of people to respond to this type of thing is the police. Not people with concealed carry guns. Those appear to be for "under direct attack" purpose only.

The weather.... its totally screwed up. The last 5 or so days instead of being cool and dry like early winter should be its warm, humid and finally wet. We had a lot of rain yesterday. Totally unseasonal. This morning we have cold moist winds. For me its doesn't get any worse. I can practically feel the fever coming

So a girl I know through my job just disclosed today that she has been victim of months of domestic abuse. She is secretly moving out next week and freeing herself from his influence but some of the stuff she told me (controlling/coercive behaviour & some physical abuse as well as emotional manipulation etc) has made me so furious! I'm thankful to be in a job where I can point her in the direction of some help and also use resources to help her move on/protect her from any repercussions, but man I want to go round that douchenozzles house and stamp on his gonads repeatedly.

So further to this I have been speaking with my boss it seems we can do a bit more to help her than I initially thought so I feel a bit better about it but still I'm really angry about it... She is a beautiful and amazing person full of life and has been systematically suckered of life. She is strong though... she is gonna be fine.

Pleased to hear she is going to be able to get away - I used to meet people in similar situations at my old job, and it always left me feeling similarly murderous.

Lost my job yesterday.

Also lost on a dream job I had an interview with recently. Apparently the guy didn't get my thank you email after the interview and deduced I wasnt interested. They found someone already.

Shitty. Kinda depressed.

I don't know what I'm gonna do.
No Touchy.

Don't make me.hate you rtbb!

I think we can both agree with was an awful match, scrappy by both teams, definitely not offside, 0-0 probably would have been fair
1 shot on target each

Yep, totally fair.

However, with the abysmal season we're having at present I'll take just about any sort of victory at this point. I would still put some money on us being Championship-bound.

*sigh*

So I'm looking for a place of my own these days so I can move out from my mom's place, which is proving difficult enough since I have not enough regular income and have to rely on government help. Now, I looked at an appartment today and I'm reaaally torn. On the up side, I liked it immediately, it's in a nice area, has a big (big for my purposes) kitchen and the current tennant says it doesn't heat up like crazy in the summer (it's on the upper floor). On the down side, it's got a steep staircase through which I won't be able to get my furniture up there, which sucks because I kinda cling to my furniture. On the up side, it allows for a separate office space, to which I can simply shut the door, on the down side, thanks to that the rooms are freaking small..

I hate having so much trouble to make firm decisions.
