Working on Sunday. On top of that, my boss was out partying 'til 4am and now is in a bad mood. That's great for you, I haven't had enough sleep for a whole week now, and not because I had fun nights out. Also, just got asked if I smoke weed by some idiot nursing a hangover and the next bottle of vodka. What the hell?!

Actually, every second customer that comes in seems to be in a shitty mood..

AND then just now some other idiot out-bid me for Cook's Dread Empire omnibus on ebay.

I hate this day already. Seriously.

Standing in the middle of the streetcar at an exit waiting for my stop to come up, a thug asshole behind me about 3 or 4 feet loudly exclaimed "Get the fuck out of my face!" To which I turned to glance assuming he couldn't possibly be talking to me, I was far from him and besides, it's public transit...I can stand where I wish can't I?

He looked me in the eye and repeated that I "get the fuck out of his face".

I wanted to say "I'm nowhere near your face." But I didn't say anything. Then the stop chimed and I got off the car.

But seriously asshat? It's bad enough that our transit system sucks, but you have to act like a dickhead to random people minding their own business?

I have promised my future wife that I won't rashly (her word) lash out at random asshats who exist in public when I'm out and about (This frustratingly includes mouthing off to idiot texting/talking movie patrons), as she fears I'll get injured if someone has a weapon. She's not wrong to be worried, my city gets worse by the day for such things.

I think you did the right thing, some subhumans isn't worth the potential consequences of a fight. Nor should you resort to newtons law as long as they don't try to attack you.

I struggle with this on a frequent basis. The Ladybyss doesn't love it.

Dunno what your transit system is like, but on our transit system, I would be more likely to dismiss this behavior as "crazy and off his meds" , "high", or "drunk". It is best not to engage. You did the right thing. Then again, I wasn't there and didn't get a good look at the guy, so your assessment could be absolutely correct.

Dunno what your transit system is like, but on our transit system, I would be more likely to dismiss this behavior as "crazy and off his meds" , "high", or "drunk". It is best not to engage. You did the right thing. Then again, I wasn't there and didn't get a good look at the guy, so your assessment could be absolutely correct.


I think "high" would be the only moniker that would fit. But sadly he seemed lucid enough, so to me it felt more like he was just being a dick and throwing his weight around "because".

But yeah, in hindsight I'm happy with my choice of not engaging.

My gran was taken into hospital at the weekend and my Dad (her son) was told the medical team "had something to discuss" with him and his sister who are her official carers. I started to fear the worst at that and sure enough, they're pretty sure it's cancer. Not confirmed yet, but there's something there that shouldn't be and when asked what other options there could be there were no suggestions.

She's 89 and has lived about three lives to other people's one, but still feeling very numb and it brings home the downsides you don't think about in moving away. I'm only an hour and a half's trip away so it could be much worse, but it still feels a bit "apart" for want of a better word.

Finally sent the accountant packing after a full system review, completed all the other tedious end/start of year stuff and can catch up with the every day work routine, only to hear that our secretary, who is already near a month working only four hours a day because of an infected eye lid (without any doctor's letter saying so), decided to go on a week's holiday, the reason being that she can get a full week off for half a week of hours (being "sick" the other half of the time).

If that's not bad enough, and is bound to complain about the workload when she comes back.

I just hate today. No idea why really, had a good night sleep, didn't start until 10 at school, finished a course in python. Buuut I just feel tired and at the same time restless as fuck. Something got to be wrong, but I have no idea what it could be.
