My brother died in a serious car crash back on the 3rd of this month. If that wasn't bad enough his 'c u next tuesday" of a wife, whom he was in the process of divorcing is making things harder than they already are. This woman is evil, my parents are having a hard enough time coping and she's deliberately making things as difficult as possible. I've never truly wished pain on someone but I'm getting close to losing my cool. The only plus is that they didn't have any children together. So once probate is finished she's out of the picture.

My condolences.
but are they worth preserving?

Is there a major advantage to not losing your cool? If not, why not go ahead and do that? I mean she's evil, you don't have to spare her feelings.

If she was still married to him and there wasn't a will, she has full legal custody over everything that was his, including pictures, famiy heirlooms and other stuff the Family might be interested in. Like how he is to be burried or where.

You don't want to piss somebody off that can fuck you just for the sake of it.

I dropped a large piece of bacon on the floor this morning.
A dirty floor, heavily traveled, winter boots and box carts kind of floor.
I could not bring myself to brush it off and eat it.
I haven't felt right since.

This leaves me with two questions: 1. Did you eat cold beacon at work? If that's the case I'm sorry for you, beacon is way better warm. Or 2. Did you were shoes indoors at home? if thats right, shame on you.

This isn't very important and it's about Jezebel so you can skip it, but what's messing with my groove is it used to actually be a pretty good topical blog when it started -- like early Jane Magazine on the web or something -- and it's devolved so much in recent years that I can barely stand it. The snark became monotonous and annoying, but who am I to judge that? But it's lately become so much the opposite of what it wanted to be, it's all about witch hunts and proving cred and all that college freshman level nonsense. And worst of all, with the Lena Dunham bounty thing as a pretty clear indicator (particularly in light of their failed attack on the Mindy Kaling mag cover a couple weeks ago), they just seem desperate and downright sleazy. If it's supposed to be an antidote to the TMZs and Perez Hilton's of the world, it's sure fooling me.

Indeed. The worst bit is that about 5% of the stuff posted there is important, well researched and presented stuff. But you have to wade through 95% of the crap they post now that is click-baiting, inflammatory rhetoric filled with internet buzzwords, shutdowns, and putdowns...none of which is AT ALL helpful to the point of the site. The comments have seemingly begun to collect into the lowest common denominator as well. Every last person who wants to vent their snarkery about their own independent personal viewpoint does so in those comments...which could be fine if it contributed to the discussion in a viable way...it does not..and instead you end up with everyone feeling that their specific POV is THE ONLY ONE and anything else is EVIL.

I can't even visit io9 anymore because it exists in the same sphere of click-baiting assholery that Jezebel does. If it weren't for OCCASIONALLY checking out Kotaku...I'd avoid the whole compendium of Gawker sites entirely.

Can't agree with you there. Sure io9 subscribes to the Gawker concept of clickbait often enough, but the breadth of the genreverse it covers and the massive reader participation more than makes up for it in my ebook.

I don't know much about the Gawker-verse in general (not a frequent visitor, I tend to hit individual articles via links from elsewhere), but Jez in particular feels like one of those situations where the original staff have all gradually moved on career-wise and the people left were interns and other later hires who kinda sorta got it but didn't really. Definitely agree with QT that they do cover important topics (the "rape joke" debates w/ comedians from last year were interesting for one example), but more often than not the site is more valuable for the links it provides to other sites, rather than the commentary Jez itself provides. I don't even have a problem with clickbait or controversy or fringe ideas or "shallow" pop culture-centered analysis; it just feels less and less like an actual feminist site and more and more like a blog that targets women who don't fit the checklist.

Anyway, that's waaaaaay too much thought put into this topic, but that photo bounty thing really chaffed me.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

^This.

Also, runny nose for no good reason (I haven't caught a cold and haven't eaten anything I'm allergic to). Couldn't sleep. Meh.

I wear my shame from dusk till dawn, a shroud I can not shed. Lol, what can I say, I spell phonetically.

Needless to say I won't make the same mistake again. Although at this rate it might be easier to create an alt account and use that. :smoke:

The general assholery only intensifies with age. I assume at some point one reaches maximum asshole and you collapse into a black void known as a Super Moderator.
