I get people didn't like old Maggie t, but really at a basic level an old woman has died, her family are probably devastated, peoples comments on bookface just make me cringe and wonder why on earth I'm friends with people.

People trying to whitewash Thatcher's horrible deeds just because she's dead.
Literally everyone in the UK and a huge number of people in Europe can thank her for why everything sucks, especially economically. You might find the vitriol excessive but the alternative to insincere platitudes and sweeping the crimes under the carpet isn't silence. I'm also a pretty big fan of this article too: http://www.guardian....death-etiquette
(personally I'm not glad she's dead, I'm pissed off she didn't rot in prison)

I have no problems with people being happy she's dead, what's messing with my groove is people taking great delight in proclaiming how they'd love to piss on her grave and hope she burns for eternity.
I agree wholeheartedly with the last articles sentiments that the veneration of the dead regardless of their life is dangerous, especially with such prominent figures. But there's a broad line between publically stating her faults and drawing needed attention to the damage her policies and actions caused (and are still causing) and mindless vitriol and hate that people are spewing. Show some fucking decorum, she's dead and her family are mourning. Calling her a hellbitch who needs to burn for ever whilst the masses piss on her grave is not a political statement, (looking at old Georgie here) its an insult to her family.

My son didn't get diagnosed with autism.
Yes, you read that correctly. I'm pissed that my son did not get an official diagnosis so that he could be medically labelled. Why?
I won't go into excessive detail, but my son has a serious learning disorder. For reference, he's five years old and is in kindergarten with an IEP. While he does will with non-verbal activities, when it comes to using language to express himself, to communicate, or to understand anything that's even slightly abstract, he completely fails. As a result, I can't ask him what he did at school today, what he's doing right now, how he's feeling, and so on. Any sort of directions that involve more than one and sometimes two steps go way over his head, even when he has a visual cue and other people demonstrate what to do first. At school, he spends most of the day in the special education room receiving one-on-one or small group help; in larger settings, he experiences sensory overload and zero learning gets done. His behavior is also really poor in this kind of setting (his behavior is a problem overall, but I think a large part of it is due to his inability to express himself).
So anyway, we've been on a waiting list for 8 months to get an appointment so that he can get an autism diagnosis. The school, his family doctor, myself, and my girlfriend are all pretty sure that he falls somewhere on the spectrum, although he is a bit more sociable than most autistic children I've met. We want to get him this diagnosis so that he can get the extra support programs he needs. I don't know how it is in other countries, but in America you need to have a medical label for your disorder before you can receive services. My son needs extreme amounts of speech therapy as well as supplementary services over the summer in order to stop him from regressing and losing all of the progress he's made this last year. Problem is, we leave paycheck to paycheck already; we can't afford any such things. Thus, we need the label.
So, we go in today, and the first two professionals are not entirely sure it's autism, but they say they'd rather diagnose because otherwise he just has an unclassified learning disorder and won't be eligible for help, which he really needs. For reference, he scored roughly average of non-verbal activities, but he was in the lowest percentile when it came to verbal; I was told that this sort of gap is extremely uncommon, and given the nature of the school system in the United States it will cause him to fall increasingly behind in every grade. I want to do everything I can to prevent this as much as possible, and given the progress he's made in kindergarten this year I am positive that lots of extra help, particularly speech services, would help him immensely. I don't know if he'd ever be at quite the same level as his peers, but I think there is definitely some room for improvement. The first two professionals agree.
The final one, who is the one who is able to give the diagnosis, however, isn't convinced that it's autism (as if that really matters; I'll label my kid as whatever the hell it takes as long as I can get the resources needed to help him succeed). In terms of learning development, he shows the signs, but he doesn't show many of the social behaviors that autistic children do (he has no problem making eye contact or interacting with others). As a result, we don't get the diagnosis, and she proceeds to list off all of the expensive programs that we can pay for. We tell her we need some sort of official label in order to get him the assistance he needs, but she just repeats what she said.
The result? Between $1400 and $2200 for the visit (won't know until the bill comes) which resulted in them just repeating to us everything we already knew. We didn't come because we're retarded and can't observe our child and figure out where he's struggling, we came to get a god damn diagnosis so that he can actually get the extra help he needs in order to fulfill his potential.
Meh, that was probably excessive detail, but I needed to rant (for probably the 50th time today). I'm going to spend the day relaxing tomorrow, and then figure out where to go from here. It's impossible to qualify for assistance on anything without a diagnosis, but I'm not sure that a diagnosis even exists; the psychologist we saw today actually had a conversation about the state of the healthcare system and how messed up it is because so many kids have learning disabilities but don't fall under a label and as a result don't qualify for help. I guess I have to start looking into other disorders (if there even are any) that he might fall into so that we can get a diagnosis. It's frustrating as hell, especially because it feels like I'm failing him as a parent. There's got to be some way I can get him the help he needs.
/end rant

/end rant
uhm, that should be 'stuff.' My stiff is never nihilistic.
