I feel the burn Obdi, I really do. (No, literally, HEAT! XD)
While I tend to agree with you in principle, being financially responsible I am unable to justify the purchasing of a desktop computer (which I don't really have anywhere to put, regardless) purely for gaming and I need portability, thus laptop.
However, considering that the laptop in question *does* in fact run something like Far Cry 3 on all-medium settings (and said laptop is also a year old), I have to say that gaming on laptops has come a loooong way in recent years. A LONG way. Plus, three-four hours of battery life when doing things like watching videos or surfing the net/word processing. So really I can't complain. It was also my fault for being silly and putting a blanket between me and the laptop, rather than going and sitting at a table. Blankets apparently keep the heat IN the laptop, who would've thunkit? >.>
So yes. Wittiness of the riposte notwithstanding, I'm going to go with "uncalled for" in this particular instance. Though still, in general, I agree.
