I just found out that CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO is now available at reasonable prices on iTunes...

Fuck.

My wallet is going to hurt.

I love the news that it will be that easy to get my hands on in quality versions...but damn there's a lot to buy!

In the "heartstopping moment of horror" category: casually playing Far Cry 3...laptop just stops. No blue screen, no weird errors, it just turns off. *flick* and then nothing. NOT GOOD.

Thankfully, it appears it was just a temporary heat issue (really need to get a cooling pad or something if I'm going to do proper gaming on it, I guess...) but holy shit that was scary. Looks like nothing important was lost, at least...

Leading me to ask the question, how would one explain the concept of "up" to someone outside the taxonomic structure it is nested? Say, to explain "up" to Yog-Sothoth. Defining "up" as the opposite direction of "down" just forces one to define "down," yielding you only madness and despair (which may be the actual objective of Yog-Sothoth, that impish little bastard).

I got as far as defining "up" as: directions from an arbitrarily defined point or line, running parallel to an abstraction of the direction from your feet to your head.

Then I remembered that Yog-Sothoth have neither feet nor head.

While I tend to agree with you in principle, being financially responsible I am unable to justify the purchasing of a desktop computer (which I don't really have anywhere to put, regardless) purely for gaming and I need portability, thus laptop.
However, considering that the laptop in question *does* in fact run something like Far Cry 3 on all-medium settings (and said laptop is also a year old), I have to say that gaming on laptops has come a loooong way in recent years. A LONG way. Plus, three-four hours of battery life when doing things like watching videos or surfing the net/word processing. So really I can't complain. It was also my fault for being silly and putting a blanket between me and the laptop, rather than going and sitting at a table. Blankets apparently keep the heat IN the laptop, who would've thunkit? >.>

So yes. Wittiness of the riposte notwithstanding, I'm going to go with "uncalled for" in this particular instance. Though still, in general, I agree. :)

Now that's giving me a headache and I don't know who Yog-Sothoth is neither.
I am rubbish at Maths and my geometric visualisation is practically non-existent, but I think you are right, you need to define a reference system first before you can put in directions, so at the minimum two points that are then connected by a line. A single point is an object with no dimensions hence it's not possible to add directions or dimensions to a point, if i remember correctly.
Try this: Euclid's Elements. Maybe the old hoary Philophiser can help you with this.
