Two things.

1) I've been doing some side-job type stuff editing some drivel that's being put out for this friend-of-a-friend's videogame (I wonder if they have a kickstarter by now) and it's crap. It's all crap. All of the characters are cookie-cut archetypes of archetypes. All of the dialog that this one guy in particular has written is at a 5th grade level. Even for someone who hopes to 'make it' in writing of any kind - every single scrap of writing of his that I've seen over the past I-don't-wanna-think-about-it has had at least one spelling mistake.

2) Trying to organize my birthday get together. Realizing that I've invited 2 ex girlfriends accidentally by virtue of the friends of mine they're attached to. Realizing that we'll never agree on where to eat. At least we decided on where to drink.

WHO DOES HOMEIMPROVEMENTS BEFORE 8AM!

People who need to get stuff done and don't hang about their place all day playing video games or reading or whatever?

I do lots of stuff before 8am. In fact I work 9 hours a day before 8am, get home, and generally head to the gym as well.

People who don't realize that 1/4th of the world has night jobs are currently messing with my groove.

And Matador works 12 hour shifts helping to save lives and doesn't get home til 7am. So being annoyed that people schedule loud landscaping for 7am instead of later in the morning given they aren't doing it themselves is hardly being unreasonable. Especially since residential permits for that kind of noise in our area start from after 8am.

People who do loud tree lopping and home improvements at 7.00am are messing with my groove. You know, being as they don't appreciate that people like myself work nights and have to try and get to sleep at that time.
I'd appreciate a little more gaming or reading at this hour, instead of industrial earth moving. Maybe they could join a gym.

Are you really mad about 1 extra hour? I mean really?

Feeling a vague sense of frustration and anxiety. Can't really pin it down to one thing, mostly a jumble of things, but I feel like time is running out and I'm going nowhere. Hate this feeling.

We don't all have your sleep habits. Hard to believe, I know but some of us find it easy to sleep through noise but not fall asleep to it.

I used to get mad about early noises like that (they are always building another building by our condo...the perks of living downtown...and the banging and hammering always starts at like 6AM), but Obi has a point...there are whole swathes of humanity who work the midnight shift, or like construction workers (the early shift), or those that serve you your pints at the bar who don't get home till 3 or 4AM and just like everyone else spend a few hours winding down before crashing mid-AM...it sucks, and they don't want to do it either but everyone has to make a living. And sometimes that living is going to intrude on your sleep. I've come to realize this and begrudgingly accept it.

Look at it this way, what if that neighbor works the night shift at a bar? Then the only time they get to do their home improvements is between 4AM and 9AM (just like you might do when coming home in the late afternoon or evening). Yeah it totally sucks and yeah it messes with your groove...but it's actually more necessary than you probably know. The world doesn't shut down between 10PM and 7AM, but that doesn't stop Mrs. QT from getting pissy with me for getting ready for work "too loudly"...and every time she does it I think to myself "I HAVE to get ready for work, what would you like me to do?"

I'm getting waaaay too much uninterrupted, resting, relaxing, health-affirming sleep lately. Just an over-abundance of it, you know? So annoying!

Now to read the last few pages of this thread and see how everyone else is doing!

So I finally get a new phone now I actually have reasons to use one regularly and get a Nokia Lumia 610 - nothing big, just a reasonable touchscreen phone - for £17 with the whole texts, calls, bandwidth deals thing. And then I get home and it requires a micro sim card where they gave me a standard one, and it's Sunday tomorrow so if they already started the process of porting my old number across I'm going to be a bit boned for calls, such as the ones I need to receive from nurses and whatnot. What a useless fucking birthday present.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Work Christmas dinner this evening. Can't stand the things. There's one guy in the office that I grab the odd beer and/or game with, but I really have no use for most of my co-workers outside of the work environment.

So I get to spend a few hours nodding and smiling while listening to inane stories and anecdotes about people's kids or the new coffee table they just bought. Things like bar or restaraunt Christmas parties were fun, but attending office ones is a necessary evil.

That is a criminally long run-on sentence that only legalese seems to get away with.

I read a classical inscription from western Turkey once whose text typed out covered about an A4 page, and there were two full stops in the entire thing. Made it very hard to decipher what the hell was going on.
