I don't think meeting SE is that big a deal. I mean Abyss met him and it's not like he's grown infinitely more imperious in the few short weeks since then or anything. Not even a little bit. He's barely mentioned it! Same with his genteel humility upon finding an early copy of Cold Days.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

It's only a week. Just remember how short a time it's been since the last one.

Messing with my groove: Sick, again - twice in a week. This time bad sore throat, coughing, the good stuff.

The dress rehearsals for this musical I'm doing (as part of the backstage crew) are starting to become a joke. There's no respect between cast and crew, barring a few individuals, and they just wander onstage and get in our way whenever they please. The stage manager panics over the least little thing and can't even get us a copy of the updated script so we know when what goes where. And we run stupidly overtime every night, so I get there at 6 and end up leaving at midnight. It's still fun but sometimes I just wanna scream. But we might be getting paid so that would make it worthwhile and then some.
Suck it Errant!

So there is this Doucheroo who I work with, he's one of the coordinators for the sales people....and so his job is to coordinate a job from outside through our processes so the sale person doesn't have to, of which I am responsible for design (sometimes) and preflight (other times)...he's meant to order barcodes or the like, and in this specific situation translations.

So I have had two jobs for two different customers that I awaited translations for....in both cases the translator (who the coordinator hired) fucked up and didn't send me charts showing what things translated to what (AKA just Spanish....as if I could pick out what English words and sentences each Spanish part went with). The first time it happened I noted it as strange for a company who's bread and butter was TRANSLATION to not send it back as a chart...and said maybe we should look elsewhere for translation. I mentioned this to the coordinator and he seemed just nonchalant about the whole thing. Fast forward a few weeks to the second job...which the translator did the same thing...and the job was late because of it. So I mentioend to the coordinator again that we should maybe find someone else to do the translations...and I copied the sale person who understood what I was saying and asked my opinion. I said the coordinator could probably Google a list of good translators and the like.

This did NOT go over well.

This guy lost his shit. Emailed back saying he was displeased with this path of events (copied in his actual direct boss) and that he doesn't have TIME to be finding another translator, and he'd used this translator for years, and that if I had an issue with them then I could find a new translator.

I was a little surprised, to say the least. It was a STRONG reaction to a suggestion to help benefit timing to the customer.

So I responded by saying "Sorry, up to him. Just a suggestion." and left it at that not wanting to get into it with him.

But he's spent yesterday and today going around the office bitching and complaining about me to people (who are better friends with me and told me what he said) and even went into his direct boss to complain about me, and say that he should not have to be ordering barcodes or translations.

It should be noted, this guy is known to be lazy, and spends the first few hours of each day wandering around chatting with people.

So the only thing I could establish is that this guy is riddled with guilt about his lackluster work performance that the minute ANYTHING draws attention to him (in this case I wasn't pointing any fingers at anyone, just saying the translator fucked up twice in a row) he gets his back up. He is known to also SCREAM at people for no reason.

Anyways, messing with my groove because it annoys me that someone like this is allowed to behave like this and that he can actually try to stand on moral ground while saying eh doesn't want to do something that is a part of his job description.

What the hell is wrong with some people?

Unexpected guests.

It's like a sudden, unforseen invasion.

Just because I like you doesn't mean I want you knocking on my door unexpectedly.

For starters it means putting on pants. :twoguns:

So yesterday I had a knock on the door & there was a bailiff telling me I owed the Council £1300!! Apparently I had not been paying council tax, as I thought that the direct debit I had last year would continue but it didn't. They had also sent me a warning notice but when it got sent it accidentally got mixed up with a bunch of other stuff and I never got round to opening it. All in all, a very honest mistake and I have managed to sort it not, but flipping heck, gave me a right scare and it has taught me a right lesson! Also means I am a bit strapped for cash in the week that Cold Days comes out... Abyss, want to send me your copy once you're done?? :twoguns:

AND TO BOOT, MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER IS PROBABLY AN IRREDEEMABLE NAZI.

I'm all for equality between the sexes.

What annoys me is when people use the fact that equality hasn't been established in one area to get away with fostering inequality in another area.

Apparently it is sexist to have male only gyms but acceptable to have female only gyms. The reason this is okay according to one of my self-titled feminist friends is because women don't have equal rights in the corporate world.......Perhaps it is just me but I fail to see the logic there. You are responding to inequality by creating more inequality? How is that suppose to fix anything?

Equality is a two-way street. If women would like female only gyms/banks/etc then, by their own desire for equality, men should be entitled to male only establishments as well.

The original feminist movement wasn't about women gaining more rights than men, it was about gaining the same rights as men.

Just don't claim your desire is equality when it's not.

/end rant

Uh, not to rain on your parade there, but men are, have always, and will annoyingly continue to be entitled to whatever the fuck they want for the foreseeable future anyway. Plus once we get rid of that terrible shitty culture - and it is a culture, not a biotruth or whatever bullshit fuckheads try to peddle - that tells dudes they can and should hit on and leer at women at all times and that they don't have any say in the matter, those gyms won't be needed.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Yah...I mean arguing against a privately owned "men only" gym is stupid, because whatever, let them have their gym, but since it's not based on any actual feminist premise to oppose men only gyms, and is just this one lady's crazy opinion, then you don't have feminism to blame. Just one dumb (on this issue) friend who also happens to be a feminist. Like if she was a carpenter, it wouldn't be carpentry's fault she said something dumb.

I wound up back into the Anime discussion thread because clearly I enjoy pain and I also misclicked again and I don't want to shit up that thread's actual Japanimation discussion by reminding the people in it they're talking about how sexy the schoolchildren in this one anime are again but seriously Japan is so fucking terrible no matter what the good points are.

Like American TV shows that use older actors to play high school characters (eg Beverly Hills 90210), Japanese anime uses older cartoon characters to play their high school ones. So it's all good.
