I have no idea how to fix my computer. Tried almost everything I can think of and I still get blue screens after 20 minutes in a game :wine:. Runs irritatingly fine otherwise.

Maybe your graphics card is dying?

EDIT: Luci says it may also be a RAM issue.

Funny, I have the same issue when running Spotify and games together, or just spotify for a couple of hours - on a PC that's 6 months old and was designed to be a gaming monster.

Two things -

1. ANZAC Day is an Australian Holiday - if you don't like that then don't live here.

2. Just where exactly are all the 'offended immigrant Australians' who feel that celebrating 100 years of ANZAC sacrifices is racist and anti-multicutural? Because I can't find any. Seems to me some PC bleeding heart white middle-classed group of do-gooders are once again going into bat for the sensitivities of a minority who DON'T HAVE A BLOODY ISSUE WITH IT TO BEGIN WITH!!!

tiny fix, but an important one. The NZ contributions to the Corps have been significant.

Also, your average offended minority consists of ten people being really loud and speaking "on the behalf of" a group of several thousands who don't know they're being spoken for, of which a certain % may agree/ sympathise upon learning what the ten are doing. Really, that is all it takes.

I don't know if Political Correctness has anything to do with this. PC is being overused as a label nowadays for things that aren't Political Correctness - it is just a convenient nomer to say "people/ politicians are being silly again" and to portray yourself as 'honest/ not mincing your words/ saying something is wrong with politics an sich' - and it has become as much as a fad as the cringing apologism for things past generations did/ thought.

Fix isn't needed as I'm ranting about current views on celebrating 100 years of ANZAC Day in Australia. As far as I am aware New Zealander's are currently discussing whether celebrating ANZAC Day in Australia is going to offend immigrant Australians :wine:

One article actual put forth that ANZAC Day ceremonies should be more PC in that they should be about remembering the sacrifices of all soldiers in all wars. Otherwise it would be discriminating against a particular people if their armed forces weren't remembered. It's ANZAC Day, we invite serviceman from other countries, including Germany and Japan, to take part in our celebrations and we respect the ordeals they went through themselves but the focus of the day is about remembering the men and women who fought for Australia (and New Zealand but obviously our focus is more Australian centric). If we want a national day to remember every nations heroic dead we can create a new day for it.

I NEVER understand when people get uppity and PC and bleeding heart about holidays or memorials like this where a war and battle occurred...in another era.

We remember...I don't care who died or their reasons for fighting at the time...they died for the country, and that ought to be recognized each year. Fuck the bleeding hearts, I'm with you Kel there should be holiday remembrances and eff those who don't want to participate.

Messing with my groove. Fucking ass Monday:

Woke up an hour late for work

Bus to my office (also a bus to the airport) was RAMMED with people for some reason.

I didn't check the weather this morn and assumed it would be as summer-like as it was last week...and froze my fucking ass off.

Arrived at work to have someone already do the whole email me and then come to my office and ask "Did you get my email?" Yes, yes I did...but if you were going to come and talk to me WHY THE FUCK DID YOU EMAIL ME?!

Want to get out to finally see the latest Studio Ghibli film, ARRIETTY tonight, but might be too tired.

I loathe Monday's sometimes.

Sat in our newly built office building while supervising a lab deep cleaning crew upstairs. We've got a temporary security guard while the alarm system gets fitted properly and he is sooooo creepy, I don't feel safe in the slightest. Looking around at how I can use the random bits of equipment we have already moved in as weapons......

I would keep a rapid ignition device at hand with a rag and be ready to put together a Molotov cocktail in under 5 sec. That or keep a bottle of pure liquid nitroglycerin on you and walk very carefully.

Isn't it a good thing he's unsettling? Let's put this in terms we can all relate to: Nobody wants Sgt. Fred Colon as a lone watchman. You want a Cpl. Nobbs or a Sgt. Detritus.

Once you have begun stocking the lab with various consumables you should have plenty of options. Some of those chemicals used in DNA work (like Ethidium Bromide) are heinous. But I suppose your prospective victim would have to also know how horrible they were too.

In the meantime, you could always crack a pipette and use it like a shiv.

(I've thought this through before cos a hospital lab i worked in before was just behind the accident and emergency department, and several times at night i found people sneeking a peek into our lab when they thought it was empty, which is kinda disconcerting when you are sitting at a fume hood and can't hear much behind you.) We actually had to get personal alarms for the girls in our lab just in case. But we subsequently moved to a state of the art facility elsewhere which is much more boring.

I've started uni this year via correspondance and I've been finding it a lot harder than I expected for part-time study.......probably because I just discovered that I'm not doing a part-time course load, I'm doing a full-time course load......gah! Have sent in paperwork to fix this as my acceptance letter states 'part-time external' and that's what I want to be doing. Who wants to do full-time study at home? Well, not me :wine:
